Nissan 200sx S13 SR20DET Night Ride Chill Drift
Just a few "safer" onboard sequences from last nights ride (which some would consider practice). The car is a S13 Nissan 200SX (180sx in japan, fastback version of the Silvia) with a SR20DET Red Top engine. It's currently being built and it doesn't have many upgrades at the moment. The pre-turbo gasket is leaking badly so I'm losing precious spool & boost (only goes from 5000 rpm onwards and 0.4 bar of boost max instead of 0.5 stock). The tires in this video are at the end of their life. Diff is welded, rear subframe collars, custom hard suspension, fmic, 76mm exhaust and CAI. That's about it. Hopefully my next vid will be much nicer. I don't condone such driving on public roads, we just don't have a choice - no tracks here - and if you're going to do it at least do it at 3-4AM so nobody is put at risk. Dallas DFW Airport Airtrans APM in 1998
Opening in 1974 the DFW Airtrans APM was probably the largest and most extensive airport transport system to have been built anywhere globally. Whereas most airport people-movers usually just shuttle to and fro between two stations (and possibly calling at an intermediate station or two) this one was different as it was 15 miles (24km) in length and featured over 30 stations. So it was more like a transit system for a small town(!) providing a variety of services serving different stations and featuring one, two and three car formations. The fleet consisted of 68 cabin-sized vehicles which seated 16 passengers and offered standing room for a further 24 passengers. The system had an overall capacity rated at 9000 people/hr. The top speed was just 17mph (27km/h). Although there were some initial teething problems it eventually became very reliable. During its 31 years of operation there were many technical upgrades, some of which took advantage of advancing technology, eg: circuit boards were replaced with microchips and the original eight-track cartridge system which was used for the passenger announcements was later updated to a compact cassette system and still later to a digital voice synthesizer. Although very successful it suffered from a few shortcomings and these, combined with changes in how the airport operated (the rise of the 'spoke and hub' system meant that an increasing number of passengers changed flights here) caused its eventual demise. Video includes a few off-ride shots and a pov. Cheetah Hunt is an Intamin launched steel roller coaster. The ride's station is located in the former monorail station which was decommissioned in the 1990s. Guests board one of five, 16 passenger trains. The ride begins with a 40-mile-per-hour (64 km/h) launch out of the station and around a wide left turn followed by a gradual dip before approaching the second launch. This launch accelerates riders to their top speed of 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) before climbing an 102-foot (31 m) hill. A figure 8 element is located at the top of this hill where riders weave through a series of helixes before dropping 130 feet (40 m) into a trench. Riders then proceed over a directional changing airtime hill before completing the ride's only inversion, a corkscrew. Upon exiting the corkscrew and its subsequent brake run (the only one on the ride), the ride remains low to the ground and goes through a series of short banked turns through a rock fixture simulating several "near misses". This leads the ride into its third and final launch which accelerates riders to a speed of 40 miles per hour (64 km/h) to navigate its way back to the station. During the journey back there are airtime and directional changing hills (one of which passes over the park's Sky Ride), before entering the final brake run.
