The end product maintains a friction resistance surface (high wet friction co-efficient) in variably thick sections throughout the service life of the Micro-Surfacing. The mix is a quick set, quick traffic system, meaning that is will be able to accept traffic after a short period of time. Using the Quikpoint Mortar Gun for jointing or grouting paving slabs and sets. This method is much cleaner and probably much faster than using a trowel. The alternative might be a hand-operated 'mastic' or 'caulking' gun. But such hand-operated guns are tiring to use and a likely source of wrist pain due to the constant squeezing action - commonly known as Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). Caulking Guns are also slow to fill as the plunger has to be removed. They are also prone to clogging as the mortar is being expelled under pressure. By contrast, with the Quikpoint Gun, a rotating auger delivers the mortar to the nozzle, so it is being constantly agitated, with little risk of clogging. This video clip shows an inexperienced DIY'er at work - expect faster results in the hands of someone more familiar with the equipment. Leading UK hard landscaping manufacturing company Marshalls plc recently challenged Scotlands premier TV garden show, Beechgrove Garden, to create a big splash to demonstrate the effectiveness of their domestic permeable paving. The step by step feature shows Marshalls installing one of its leading ranges of permeable paving, Drivesett Argent Priora. Then in a dramatic finish to the piece, the Beechgrove Garden team fill the bucket of a three ton dumper truck with water and tip it, all at once, on to the 40 square metre driveway. This equates to approximately 1100 litres of water saturating the space, well in excess of a hundred year storm landing on the area and all in just a few seconds! Having only one chance to film the presenters true and honest reaction, Marshalls think it is fair to say the faces, words and images will say it all. These kinds of volumes of water over large areas have now been recognised as contributing to the catastrophic flooding experienced in recent years throughout the UK in our urban areas. In fact, 95% of rainfall in built up areas finds its way quickly into the drainage system and adds to the risk of flooding in heavy downpours. This prompted the Government to introduce new Legislation (England & Wales Only) on developing a front garden area and why Beechgrove Garden asked Marshalls to demonstrate this innovative paving.
