Instead (M. Peyroux) -cover-

lyrics Instead of feeling bad, be glad you got somewhere to go. Instead of feeling sad, be happy you're not all alone. Instead of feeling low, get high on everything you love. Instead of wastin' time, feel good 'bout what you're dreamin' of. Instead of tryin' to win something you never understood, just play the game you know, eventually you'll love her good. It's silly to pretend that you have something you don't own; just let her be a woman and you'll be her man. Instead of feelin' broke, buck up and get yourself in the black. Instead of losing hope, touch up the things that feel out of whack. Instead of being old, be young because you know you are. Instead of feeling cold, let sunshine into your heart. Instead of acting crazy chasing things that make you mad, keep your heart ahead, it'll lead you back to what you have. With every step you're closer to the place you need to be. It's up to you to let her love you sweetly. Instead of acting crazy chasing things that make you mad, just keep your heart ahead, it'll lead you back to what you have. With every step you're closer to the place you need to be but it's up to you to let her love you sweetly! Instead of feeling bad, be glad you've got someone to love. Instead of feeling sad, be happy there's a God above. Instead of feeling 'lone, remember you're never on your own. Instead of feelin' sad, be happy that she's there at home. She's waitin' for you by the phone, so be glad that she's all your own.

Madeleine Peyroux - Standing on the Rooftop

May 24, 2012 - AT&T Performing Arts Center, Wyly Theatre: tickets.attpac.org Bluesy and Soulful, Madeleine Peyroux has one of the most unique voices in Jazz today. Her road to fame is as romantic as her sound. Having honed her vocal and guitar skills on the famously unique, acoustic streets of Europe, Peyroux's style was inspired by jazz legends such as Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith and Louis Armstrong. She is perhaps best known to her fans for intimately arranging covers of early American blues and jazz music. Some of her most notable albums include 2005's Careless Love and 2009's Bare Bones. Peyroux has collaborated with heavy hitters such as Joe Henry, Steely Dan's Walter Becker and the Rolling Stones' Bill Wyman, and went on tour last year with Diana Krall and Melody Gardot in Australia. Her new album will be released this year. TITAS is thrilled to present Madeleine Peyroux in the intimate Wyly Theater.

Lyrics:Every night he'd come to me I'd cook for him, I'd pour his tea I was in my thirties then Had made some money, lived with men We'd lay us down to give and get Beneath the white mosquito net And since no counting had begun We lived a thousand years in one The candles burned The moon went down The polished hill The milky town Transparent, weightless, luminous Uncovering the two of us On that fundamental ground Where love's unwilled, unleashed, unbound And half the perfect world is found The candles burned The moon went down The polished hill The milky town Transparent, weightless, luminous Uncovering the two of us On that fundamental ground Where love's unwilled, unleashed, unbound And half the perfect world is found
You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go

Madeleine Peyroux's version of a Bob Dylan song. I didn't find it here so I put this together out of whatever I could find. First video I ever made, as I just realized tonight that I have Windows Movie Maker on my computer, so I thought I'd muck around with it.

SMILE - Modern Times(Charles Chaplin) - Madeleine Peyroux

Madeleine Peyroux is an American jazz singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Peyroux is noted for her vocal style, which has been compared to that of Billie Holiday. "Smile" is a song, originally used as an instrumental theme in the soundtrack for the 1936 Charlie Chaplin movie Modern Times. Chaplin composed the music, while John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons added the lyrics in 1954. "Smile" has become a popular standard since its original use in Chaplin's film. Smile - Lyrics Smile, though your heart is aching, Smile, even though it's breaking. When there are clouds in the sky- You'll get by. If you smile through your fear and sorrow, Smile and maybe tomorrow You'll see the sun come shining through For you. Light up your face with gladness, Hide every trace of sadness. Although a tear may be ever so near, That's the time you must keep on trying, Smile, what's the use of crying? You'll find that life is still worthwhile, If you just smile.

Gatos y Madeleine Peyroux - "Instead"

Dedicado a mi amigo Miguel Zicca, ilustrador argentino. Instead of feeling bad Be glad you got somewhere to go Instead of feeling sad Be happy you're not all alone Instead of feeling low Get high on everything you love Instead of wastin' time Feel good 'bout what you are dreaming of Instead of trying to win something you never understood Just play the game you know eventually you will you both look good It's silly to pretend to have something you don't own Just let her be a woman and you'll be her man Instead of feelin' broke Buck up and get yourself in the black Instead of losing hope Touch up the things that feel out of whack Instead of being old Be young because you know you are Instead of feeling cold Let sunshine into your heart Instead of acting crazy chasing things that make you mad Keep your heart ahead, it'll lead you back to what you have With every step you are closer to the place you need to be It's up to you to let her love you sweetly Instead of acting crazy chasing things that make you mad Just keep your heart ahead, it'll lead you back to what you have With every step you ...

Madeleine Peyroux - Lovesick Blues

I've got a lovesick tale to tell to you Though it ain't no fail of mine It's about a gal named sue And a boy named lou They were fightin' all the time Sue came home one afternoon And found an empty dining room Without a word A turtledove had flown Sue began to moan "My sweetie went away But he didn't say where He didn't say when He didn't say why Without biddin' me goodbye Oh I'm blue as I can be I know he loves another one But he didn't say who He didn't say when He didn't say what His momma has got That took my sweetie from me I'm like a little lost sheep And I can't sleep But I keep tryin' to forget My travelin' poppa he left his momma all alone I groan My sweetie went away but he didn't say where He didn't say when He didn't say why I know I'll die Why don't he hurry on home?"
