Polish Lessons -- Unit 24

My plan is to produce one short video for every letter and every sound of the Polish Language. At the end there will be approximately 45 videos, every one of them containing 17 words. So theoretically somebody, who would spend 45 minutes watching all of them, would have at least a swift contact with 765 Polish words (mainly substantives) There is a myth that the Polish Language is one of the most difficult to learn. I don't believe it anymore after meeting and speaking to a lot of students who after learning Polish for six months or so - mastered this language to a remarkable degree. My theory is that the Polish Language appears very difficult at the beginning but after somebody manages to reach a certain point of knowledge - this language becomes unexpectedly easy to speak - because obviously it is a very intuitive and "judge by the ear" language. After reaching a certain point you just know how to say it (how to decline and so) because it seems to sound either good or not. So this is why I think, that anybody who would like to learn Polish should invest quite an ample time to "get used" to it. Those 45 minutes of the Polish alphabet are supposed to be the first introduction to this foreign language. It should help to understand how Polish should be pronounced as well as to learn some first Polish words. It should give you the general idea of how the Polish language sounds like. In the next level we will deal with most common verbs. We will look at how they sound and ...

ヘタリア Axis Powers, POLAND 【ROTA】- second anthem -

ROTA ("The Oath") is an early 20th-century Polish poem and anthem, once proposed to be the Polish national anthem. Rota's words were written in 1908 by Maria Konopnicka. The music was composed two years later by Feliks Nowowiejski. Konopnicka's poem came into being as a protest against the German Empire's oppression and suppression of Polish culture in German-occupied western Poland — lands that from the late 18th century after the Partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to 1918 were under Prussian — and later, German — rule. Rota was first sung publicly during a patriotic demonstration in Kraków on July 15, 1910, itself held to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Polish-Lithuanian victory over the Teutonic Knights at the Battle of Grunwald. The anthem quickly became popular throughout partitioned Poland. Until 1918 Rota served as an anthem of the Polish Scouting movement. After the nation regained independence in 1918, Rota in 1927 found itself under consideration for a time as a possible Polish national anthem.

Nightmare Before Christmas - This Is Halloween(Polish S&T)

Nightmare Before Christmas is (C) Disney/Touchstone Pictures. *** Requested by H4RRY5 :). I like this version, but sometimes when I'm listening to it, I have a feeling that it's really fast o_o Don't kill me if some lyrics are wrong == There's a pun here: 'wystrzałowy' means 'very awasome, cool', but word came out from word 'strzelać' (to shoot), after all, Jack is called 'King of halloween bullets', isn't he? Tekst piosenki: Can you stop the fire? You can't stop the fire Can you stand to fight her? You won't say the words Please, please, please) Please, please forgive me But I won't be home again Maybe someday you'll look up And barely conscious you'll say to no one Isn't something missing? You won't cry for my absence, I know You forgot me long ago Am I that unimportant? Am I so insignificant? Isn't something missing? Isn't someone missing me? Even though I'm the sacrifice You wont try for me, not now Though I'd die to know you love me I'm all alone Isn't someone missing me? (Can you stop the fire? You can't stop the fire Can you stand to fight her? You won't say the words Please, please, please) Please, please forgive me But I won't be home again I know what you do to yourself I breathe deep and cry out Isn't something missing? Even though I'm the sacrifice You wont try for me, not now Though I'd die to know you love me I'm all alone Isn't someone missing me? And if I breathe, I'll bleed Knowing you don't care And if I sleep just to dream of you I'll wake without you there Isn't something missing? Isn't something... Even though I'm the sacrifice You won't try for me, not now Though I'd die to know you love me I'm all alone Isn't something missing me? Isn't someone missing me? (Can you stop the fire? You can't stop the fire Can you stand to fight her? You won't say the words Please, please, please)

MozART GROUP www.mozartgroup.org

We exist despite the sober formality of great concert halls, despite the boredom of classical musicians' life, despite fanatic lovers of classical music, despite fans of rock, rap or pop who are afraid of classical music. We treat our Muse with a humorous irony and we're sure, she will have nothing against it!" The names that make the moz'ART Group are: Filip Jaslar - first violin; Michał Sikorski - second violin; Paweł Kowaluk - viola; Bolek Błaszczyk - cello. They are all well educated instrumentalists who graduated from prestigious Academies of Music in Warsaw and Łódz, but they decided to play classical music in a humorous way. They created a worldwide unique musical cabaret, where the music, not the words are the source of joy and laugh. Take a classical composition as canvas, analyze its structure and theme, surround it with musical associations, brilliant, unbelievable ideas and while listening to the final product the listener is constantly surprised, amazed, laughing and moved to tears. The musicians of the Moz'ART GROUP have been playing together since 1995. At the beginning, they presented short musical jokes on Canal Plus Television. They gave their first debut in 1997 at the PAKA - competition of young Polish cabarets in Krakow. In the same year, they presented their first cabaret program entitled "Mozart's Still Alive" and since then, they have given concerts in Poland, Japan, China, the United States, Belgium, France and Switzerland. Ada SARI - Polish coloratura soprano; J.Strauss

"Her first appearance was a sensation, the greatest one during the present concert season ! Ada Sari at Milan's Scala ! If we could imagine all the praises that we have ever heard, such as - the sweetness of a beautiful soprano voice and a wonderful elegance and charm portrayed by the greatest coloraturas', from the young Prevosti, to Tetrazini and Gemma Bellinconi, and combine all the most notable qualities of each of them..., if we were to imagine the young Selma Kurz illuminated by all the shades of a blue sky; only then the image of Ada Sari could be clearly seen". Those words, written by a reviewer for the Münchener Zeitung after the artist's first performance in Munich in 1924 in the best way characterise the phenomenal uniqueness of Ada Sari. For thirty years, in virtually all the opera and concert halls throughout three continents her performances had evoked the public's enthusiasm. The critics called her "The Queen of coloratura" and "new Patti". Which in those times, was the greatest compliment that could have been paid to her. She was born in 1886 in Wadowice near Cracow. Her real name was Jadwiga Szayer. After completing vocal studies in Vienna and Milan under prof. Antonio Rupnick, she made her debut as Margarete in "Faustus" in Teatro Nazionale, Rome (1909). After this, she was invited to perform at Naples, Milan, Trieste, Venice, Florence, Madrid, Lisbone, Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev and Warsaw. Her repertoire consisted of thirty lyrical and coloratura arias ...

The Little Mermaid - Part Of Your World(Polish)

The Little Mermaid is (C) Disney. *** I don't quite get why some Polish people don't like our Ariel. Maybe that's because that film on beginning wasn't dubbed at all and now they think that version is piece of crap? oo Anyway... She has preety voice, talk whatever you want but I like it very much. And lyrics makes her very desperate. X3 I'm quite proud of translation, although it still has errors. By the way, "cóż" means "well", but when you put in question instead of "co" (ex. "Co to jest?" - "Cóż to jest?") will mean "what?" ("What is it?"). So I think that Ariel wanted to ask what treasures she has mean when she wants more (Did you undestand what I wrote? XD) And as you see, "przydasie" i "cotosie" are not real words. They had to make Ariel more confused about these things. ... I still have a strange feeling that I translated "Dzieciom jest leżej" too... Drastically? oo Enjoy! ^w^ EDIT: Please, kill me. Just kill me. It should be "diffuses" not "makes". I'm just not thinking b****.

Lion King II - My Lullaby (Polish & subs & translation)

Lion King II is (c) Disney. *** Requested by Marii ^^ Okay, first, title wasn't possible to translate. Why? Because "Luli luli laj" are not a words with meaning. It's something like a simple lullaby to sing for children... Did you understand what I wrote? XD Okiey ^^ Zira rarely shouts. And it's good. She really sounds like she sings (tries to) "But she's talking for whole time!" Yeah, like in 99% of versions and what? -_- If you get a good voice, shout is needless. Besides, it's lullaby for God sake! It's possible sound evil and not to shout. I mean, I wouldn't imagine another Turkish version (I'm sorry, but I really hate this version D8) And just one thing: Nuka first part is something like a wordplay. "Gryźć ziemię" means "to die" or "to be buried" but it wouldn't make any sense with "Tyran paszczę ma zębatą" oO so I translated this literally And one more thing... "WILL YOU SHUT THE **** UP?!" oO I just wanted to say "Enjoy!" -_- ... ENJOY! ^w^ Edit: It's "learn" not "lern" by the way... I'm just stupid! :P

Polish tango in Soviet Russia - Utomlennoe solntse, 1936

The „Last Sunday" -- erroneously called „THAT Last Sunday" -- was composed by the Polish composer Jerzy Petersburski in 1936. It is a nostalgic tango with lyrics by Zenon Friedwald describing the final meeting of former lovers who are parting. The Polish title was: "To Ostatnia Niedziela" ("The Last Sunday"). The song was extremely popular and was performed by numerous artists (the best known performance by the pre-war Polish singer Mieczysław Fogg). Along the way, it first gained the nick-name of "Suicide Tango" due to its sad lyric (although, the real „suicie song" in the night restaurants of Warsaw -- where the shoot in the brow at 12 at night was not an unusual happening - was in 1930s another sad „Sunday": the „Gloomy Sunday" (in Polish: „Smutna niedziela") by a Hungarian composer Rezső Seress. Soon, it became an international hit; in the US sung by Billie Holiday. But Polish „Last Sunday" also had a terribly sad fate. During World War II In the concentrations camps it was often played while Jewish prisoners were led to the gas chambers and ovens, to be executed. During World War II its Russian version was prepared by Iosif Alveg and performed by Leonid Utyosov under the title of "Weary Sun" (Russian: "Utomlyennoye Solntse"). After World War II, the song remained largely successful and appeared in a number of films, including Yuriy Norshteyn's 1979 "Tale of Tales" (considered by many international critics to be the greatest animated film ever made), the award-winning ...

HELENA POLKA

No accordion sites are complete without the Polka. So here it is; an American traditional... Polka is a type of dance, and also a genre of dance music. It originated in the middle of the 19th century in Bohemia, and is still a common genre of Czech, Polish and Slovenian folk music; it is common both in Europe and in the Americas. In classical music, many polkas were composed by both Johann Strauss I and his son Johann Strauss II; a couple of well-known ones were composed by Bedřich Smetana and Jaromír Vejvoda, the author of Škoda lásky ("Roll Out the Barrel"). The name comes from German word Polka[1], meaning "Bohemian Dance" which comes from the Czech word polka, also meaning "Bohemian dance", which itself is lent from the Polish polka, literally meaning "Polish woman", fem. of Polak. The word may also be an German-originating alteration of Czech pulka, meaning "half." Due to its name it is often mistakenly attributed to Poland. It should also not be confused with the polska, a Swedish 3/4-beat (help·info) dance with Polish roots; cf. polka-mazurka. A related dance is the redowa. Polkas have a 4/4 time signature
