Tahiti is the largest island in the Windward group of French Polynesia, located in the archipelago of Society Islands in the southern Pacific Ocean. The island has a population of 178133 according to an August 2007 census. This makes it the most populous island of French Polynesia, accounting for 68.6% of the total population. The capital, Papeete, is located on the northwest coast. Tahiti has also been known as O'tahiti. ( source Wikipedia )

Polynesian seafaring - history and Hawaiian re-creation
Captain Cook 'discovers' Tahiti and Hawaii. The natives tell Cook how they navigated the vast Pacific Ocean. Later commentators dispute this, and some natives of today---many decades after ravages of their culture by outsiders--decide to rebuild the ancient navigation knowledge and traditional sailing canoes to create a new legacy of wayfinding and revive the spirit of the ancestral way as they teach others to face new horizons. Herb Kawainui Kane speaks about Thor Heyerdahl and his Kon-Tiki expedition, and then the Hokule'a (Hōkūle'a)-- a re-created ancient double-hulled voyaging canoe (vaka taurua) featured in this extract. Life in Samoa in Polynesian Cultural Center(PCC)
Lots of people wanted me to post this up. This is me recording with the camera. Me and my class were on a field trip to PCC. (my first time going to this place) and we stopped by this man that's showing us about life in Samoa and examples of how Samoan people do for their living. The ones who were drinking the Coconut Water was my friends Teroa and Chad. I wanted to, but I was still recording. This guy shows how to lots of things: making a fire, opening a coconut, how to grind the coconut, and how to make the coconut milk. For a Korean person like me, it was very interesting to see all the cool stuff that Samoan people did. Also, this guy also makes us laugh a little bit. Sorry if I didn't show you the rest of it, my camera's battery was almost dead. Anyways, it was a very fun thing to watch and I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Please rate and comment.
