Toshiba has decked out the Portégé R700 with several options with regular Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 CPUs. Initially there will be five models offered in the Portégé R700 range and their specifications will vary, the ability to run up to 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM (via two stacked memory modules and using the 64-bit version of Windows 7) and the ability to run a third-generation solid-state drive (SSD) with a storage capacity of up to 256GB. Toshiba has created the next standard with laptops, the Portege Z830 weighs less than 2.5lbs and is only 0.63" thick, with a 13.3" display. it supports 2nd generation Intel core I processor with an option of maxing out with an Core i7 CPU, up to 6GB of RAM, an eight-cell 47Wh battery inside. Plus a combined backlit and spill-resistant keyboard, a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 display and a 1.3 megapixel webcam in the lid. Its got three USB ports - one 3.0 and two 2.0, one of which does sleep and charge , an Ethernet jack, HDMI and VGA output and an SD card slot. Built in Wi-fi and an optional Intel Wireless Display. The Portege Z830 will come in both Business class and consumer models, with the consumer model pricing starting at under $1000 and will go on sale in Nov.
