No one would oppose Wily's rule except for Dr. Light, who worked in secret to create a robot who would fight back against Wily's robot soldiers. This robot, Protoman, stood up against the leaders of the robot army, but was destroyed. No one would help Protoman; all they could do was stand by and watch helplessly. Not too long after, Light created Megaman. "Years passed. Nothing changed. The human race seemed weary but content to suffer under Dr. Wily and the robot army. In whispers, they still spoke of Protoman. Eventually, Megaman would find out the truth. Dr. Light knew this. When Megaman was old enough, Light called him into the workshop and began to explain..." ******************** This is a music video for Unrest in the House of Light by The Protomen (who are AWESOME and happily provided me with full permission to disseminate this video). Its done entirely with Megaman 7 sprites (ripped by Sprites Inc.), which have been recolored, and a few original sprites by me. The next playthrough set is on the way as I tackle the next Mega Man game in the Classic series, Mega Man 9. This Mega Man game marks several firsts when it came out. First and foremost, it was the first Classic series game to be made in a decade (came out in 2008 while the last game, Megaman & Bass, came out in 1998). It was the first Mega Man game made for all of the current generation consoles (PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii). It was also the first time in a LONG while that they used "retro-styled" 8-bit graphics similar to the NES. The intention and result was a feel that harkened back to the good old days of Mega Man games, or at the very least, Mega Man 2, in particular. Oh, there's also the fact that this game is the first in the Classic series (and the only one to date) to introduce a FEMALE Robot Master. Who would have thought? While there were some concerns about this gaming direction (ie the return to 8-bit graphics and being a downloadable title amongst others), most critics were silenced as the solid gameplay spoke volumes as it is top-notch. The level design and graphics, despite emulating an outdated style, is still great to look at. Not to mention the game's soundtrack is one of the best, even rivaling and/or surpassing the famed Megaman 2 soundtrack depending on opinion. As for the story... well, we're going to save that for later because the game mode in this game has no story. In this video, I'm playing the game in Protoman Mode. Based on the rock opera interpretation of Megaman's predecessor by the band The Protomen. The music is a track called Hope Rides Alone. -- The Protomen is a rock/techno band which has made their fame with now two albums devoted to a reinterpretation of the classic video game story of Megaman. Whereas Capcom however had cute sprites and a colorful world, the story of Protoman is set in a dystopian future and treats the battle against the robot masters with sober seriousness. The story of the first album follows Protoman, a robot invented to deal with the oppressive regime of the maniacal Dr. Wily. His battle is a lonely one as the very people he strives to save ignore him as a troublemaker, and Dr. Light his creator struggles with the decision to activate him to save the world...but more then likely die in the attempt. This is exactly one day I hope to do with Sonic; show how by taking even an originally childish concept seriously you can tell truly dramatic and meaningful stories.

Recently downloaded Proto Man and Endless stage, so I went ahead and recorded Proto Man beating the game. The differences between Mega Man and Proto Man is that Proto Man has the ability to slide and charge his Buster, but the downside is he takes double damage and does not have access to the shop.

This is the culmination of a rather tricky project I've been working on off and on for a long time only to be finished now. It follows the style of the "Vengeance" live action mega man movie posted awhile back here on Youtube by PaulLevering (youtube.com using Casshern footage in the place of Megaman characters. Of course, the nine minute long "The Sons of Fate" is a little more tricky to translate into Casshern footage than "Vengeance", but I think I did fairly well. "The Sons of Fate" is a rock opera telling the story of Megaman's quest to free the world from Dr. Wily's evil grip, only to discover the brother he had thought to be killed by Wily is actually working for him. As Protoman forces a confrontation, Megaman realizes the only way to stop Wily is by striking down his own brother first. Due to necessary footage, I also had to create a minor subplot where Roll is rescued from Wily's robots by a reformed Iceman, who is promptly killed for his actions. Note: I purposefully did not include subtitles for the Japanese dialogue between the characters towards the end. This is so people could interpret the events whatever way they wanted; after all, it's no so much important to know what possible comment of Wily's could goad Megaman into attacking him, it's the mere fact that the emotionally distraught robot would be willing to at all.
