This eau de toilette is a sheer citrus with just enough woodiness and warmth to set it apart from a standard cologne. The creator is Jean Claude Ellena, master of complex compositions that wear very transparently...like all his Hermes creations: Terre d'Hermès, Kelly Caleche, Jardin un Mediterranee, his Bulgari Green Tea, Frederic Malle L'eau d'Hiver, he did that one...busy guy! Right off the first spray, Voyage d'Hermès is a gin and tonic: aromatic with lemon/lime and herbs. It's crisp, it's refreshing, it's sporty -- say it in French, it sounds fancy: "C'est tres sportif!" If it is a sports fragrance, it's one with brains and taste. Which means it can't be a sports fragrance. To begin with, Voyage d'Hermès kind of reminded me of Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien, but when I sprayed them both on to compare, Eau d'Hadrien was blockier, more "lemon, wood, arrrr, klonk!", and by contrast, Voyage d'Hermès was smoooooove. Voyage d'Hermès is more precision engineered. After the gin and tonic start, the sparkling top notes ease back into the mix, which becomes an ambient hum of cedarwood, pepper, and clean musk. This eau de toilette is elegant, sophisticated, and self-sufficient. The opening isn't a come-hither deal. It's a little clinical, with a hint of something that smells like dry tobacco. That something turns out to be iris - the single most expensive perfume ingredient in the world. One kilogram of Italian iris butter will set you back $30000. And what do you get for your money? You get a flower that doesn't smell floral. Iris actually smells woody and leathery. The effect is austere, but regal. As it goes along, No. 19 gets subtly more feminine, with appearance of some low-key florals that include jasmine, rose and hyacinth. But No. 19 never quite rolls over into girliness. It stays in control with galbanum, a bitter green plant resin, along with grassy vetiver. And that leathery iris lets you know who's boss. No. 19 is not a needy perfume. It's polished and aloof, and doesn't need reinforcement from yes men to do its job. When it comes to clothes, the Devil might wear Prada, but as for perfume, the Devil definitely wears No.19. Watch the video of the full song: www.youtube.com Transcript: Personally, I love deep, animally fragrances, so Labdanum 18 by Le Labo is right up my furry alley. When I first encountered it, I had the image of a giant, Godzilla-sized baby rampaging through the city, destroying all in its path with warfare-grade talcum powder. This is the labdanum talking. Labdanum is the resin from a shrub called rockrose. The smell is tantalizing: sweet, smoky and leathery. You might know it from Prada eau de parfum and Tom Ford's Amber Absolute. In Labdanum 18, the animal aspects of the resin are played up with musk, civet and castoreum, known to their friends as deer butt, cat butt and beaver butt, respectively. Once the zoo joins the party, this eau de parfum becomes dangerous and sexy. This one isn't loud, but it's lethal. Its sensuality hovers just above the skin, and it lasts forever. Intriguingly, the longer it's on, the fresher it becomes. Labdanum 18 goes on dirty, dries down clean. And that's when I spray on more and get dirty all over again. I'm Katie Puckrik, and I smell.

It took me a little while to get 10 Corso Como, because its not obvious. Its not springing off your body: Hi! Im a perfume! This eau de parfum is a warm, salty sandalwood smell. Its a little odd when you first apply it, sort of sweet and sour, like a dill pickle. As it blooms on your skin, its a really dry sandalwood, sweetened by really ripe roses. Theres a surround-sound of musk and oud wood, and the oud makes it a real nose-twitcher. 10 Corso Como smells like skin after its been subjected to private activities. Distinctly unwholesome private activities. Yay. Im Katie Puckrik, and I smell.

This eau de toilette blends classic masculine notes with eccentric touches into something modern with a mind of its own. Anvers starts off dense and green. I smell bergamot and other citrus notes, along with aromatic herbs. Theres a wet, almost cement-y smell that I associate with violet leaf. The funny thing about violet leaf is that it also has a melon-like quality to the scent. In Anvers, the violet shape-shifts with the melon, getting sweeter and sweeter. Just when its almost too crazy, Anvers pulls a fast one and starts getting smoky, calming everything down. The smoke emphasizes a whole bunch of dry woods you never noticed before, with mint and sage to keep you chilled. Anvers is a case of multiple personality disorder, but in this case, the all the personalities are pretty cool guys, so you dont mind when an unexpected note pops up. And for such a mixed-up bunch, they all play nice so your nose doesnt get beat up in the process. Im Katie Puckrik, and I smell.

It starts off chemical-y, veering towards the Barbie doll-head odor of vanilla plastic. There's also a suggestion of musky fruit. This eau de parfum has a smooth and linear 90s feel, like CkOne. It actually shares some of CkOne's notes: citrus, cardamom, tea, the musk, the cedar. At first I thought, ah, it's fresh, it's inoffensive, but The Beat gets louder the longer you wear it. The musky fruit starts crowding out whatever flowers are in there. It ends up smelling pretty generic, like a giant magazine scent strip. Turn the page. I'm Katie Puckrik, and I smell.

The inspiration is Britney's love for white florals, vanilla, and luscious desserts. And thank God for that, cuz if it were based on her love for Cheetos, Frappicinos and inappropriate men, I don't think I'd wanna smell that. The first spritz of this eau de parfum smells tart and fruity. Then it warms up into fresh-baked orange muffins, with a little spicy clove wafting up around the edges. There's a faint liquorice/toothpaste vibe as the clove melds into the last act, which is a gentle dance of sweet ambery woods. Hidden Fantasy lasts a long time, and is a tad more grown-up than her sugary sisters, Fantasy and Midnight Fantasy. The slogan for Hidden Fantasy is "What do you have to hide?" And in Britney's case, judging from those shots of her kibbles'n'bits out to the 4 winds, apparently nothing. Fans of Britney's fragrances will love this one. Just keep your knickers on. Find out here: en.wikipedia.org Transcript: When Chanel No. 5 launched in 1921, it was modern to the point of what is this, Coco Chanel, you tricksy minx? Its peachy florals and woods shimmer behind a glittering curtain of aldehydes. No. 5s powdery coolness is warmed with mating-season musk - only revealed on the skin, like a secret between lovers. The No. 5 parfum and eau de toilette are still more or less the real deal, sticking to the original blueprint. Im not so crazy about the 80s-era eau de parfum, which is thicker, sharper, and more synthetic. Its like a caricature the original eau de toilette drawn with a big fat marker pen. It took 2008s Eau Première, with its more nuanced and youthful interpretation, to finally lasso me into the No. 5 corral. Eau Première has the same DNA as No. 5, but with fresher, more transparent versions of the notes. To my nose, the old glittering curtain of aldehydes is now a soft fizzy sparkle, playfully highlighting a lemony-orange kick-off. The citrus is the new kid on the block here, putting a little jut in the ladys strut. The fizziness deepens into what were told is jasmine, ylang-ylang, iris and rose, but what I only know as that classic No. 5 smell. As <b>...</b>

Watch the video of the full song: www.youtube.com Transcript: Cannabis Rose is an eau de parfum by Fresh. It's billed as ultra-sensual, but this thing is too darned perky to be sensual. The first spray is bright, zingy, lemony. The rose is fresh but not deep: it doesn't have the thick, winey heft that perfume roses can have. I don't think the cannabis in here would give the airport sniffer dogs a run for their money. It's a light hempiness rather than midnight at the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Cannabis Rose strikes me as a sporty little number, though I'm not sure you can have pot in a sports fragrance. It's like a high school where the freaks and jocks are friends: a nice idea in theory, but doesn't work in practice. I'm Katie Puckrik, and I smell.
