Monty Python | Spectrum [sub-español]

Good evening. Tonight 'Spectrum' looks at one of the major problems in the world today - that old vexed question of what is going on. Is there still time to confront it, let alone solve it, or is it too late? What are the figures, what are the facts, what do people mean when they talk about things? © Monty Python

Jetpac in Python using Pygame

Inspired by the soon to be release Raspberry Pi $25 computer I decided to teach myself how to program in Python using the Pygame library. I spent many hours as a kid playing Jetpac on my Spectrum 48k so that seemed like the perfect choice of game to try to recreate. I plan on creating a tutorial if I get enough interest. Some bugs still need ironing out.

Python 3000

Google TechTalks July 21, 2006 Guido van Rossum is a computer programmer who is best known as the author and Benevolent Dictator for Life of the Python programming language. ABSTRACT The next major version of Python, nicknamed Python 3000 (or more prosaically Python 3.0), has been anticipated for a long time. For years I have been collecting and exploring ideas that were too radical for Python 2.x, and it's time to stop dreaming and start coding. In this talk I will present the community process that will be used to complete the specification for Python 3000, as well as some of the major changes to the language and the remaining challenges.
Arduino-RGB Python Example

This video demonstrates the Python front end I wrote for the Arduino to control an RGB LED. The Python code interfaces with the Arduino via 2-byte serial commands which set the RGB colors. The Arduino sketch also includes code to perform a loop through the HSV spectrum, which is started via a serial command. More info (Including source code): www.arduino.cc
Raspberry Pi - How to change screen position - CONFIG.TXT - Launch of Python - SSD speed

This video covers the necessary entries in the CONFIG.TXT file that enable you to set and change the over scan settings so that you can tweak exactly where the visible area of your screen output is drawn on your Television screen. Here the Pi is connected to a Plasma TV and there is still image tweaks to be done ! The Pi is a learning experience and not (yet) a fully finished environment. I hope to be making more (helpful ?!) videos & hope to share the excitement this 40 something year old is having with the advent of a device to encourage a new wave of 'Home brew / Bedroom developing'. Tip = Buy a decent speed SSD. The entire system is running and accessing the SD all of the time.

SpectroFountain

Here is a new test with my PyCarrara Python plugin : a fountain driven by an audio spectrum. The fountain is built with 100 particle emitters. Each particle emitter is associated to a frequency range of the audio spectrum. The simulation handles about 25.000 particles (250 per emitter). The Python script contains a loop with 5 steps per second. At each step, the script does: - compute the audio spectrum with a FFT operator - evaluate the audio power in each spectrum subband - compute the velocity parameter of each particle emitter according to the measured power - set 100 keyframes for the 100 particle emitters
Michael Palin and the Eleventh Doctor

I was watching Monty Python's Flying Circus the other day, and I noticed than in this one sketch (Episode 12 "The Naked Ant", "Spectrum"), Michael Palin looks a lot like Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, (or vica versa [sp?] if you rather). They both have the tweed jacket and bowtie combo, and say a lot very quickly. I just had to make a video. I couldn't resist. All rights and stuff belong to the BBC and whoever else they're supposed to go to.

Chain Voiceprint in i3

The result of boredom, playing around with spectrum analyzer data, and math becoming something I now hate only just slightly less. The voiceprint visualizer itself is a simple Bash script that reads the spectrum magnitudes from a Python script I wrote to dump, scale and amplify them from GStreamer, feeding them to tree terminals that read the magnitudes from FIFOs and round it off to a color intensity. The voiceprint visualizer may be downloaded from pastebin.com . The spectrum analyzer dumper may be downloaded from aur.archlinux.org .

[ZX Spectrum] Tetris 5-in-1 (KSA & AIG, game, 1995)

DOWNLOAD: vtrdos.ru IT'S A TETRuC! Or TETRиС, if you want. And yes, that's not "U", that's Russian "И" (pronounced as "i"). You know, I have noticed a very odd habit whenever I do a video of a puzzle game (not applied to Gridlock, though): whenever I'm doing it, I'm stretching the entire footage to 10 minutes or more. And then the viewers get kinda bored after the fifth minute. So I'm trying to quickly blaze through all the five games included here, pressing the "Quit" button all the friggin' time. This is one of those early Speccy games, coded and, er... musified by the famous Stanislav Kuzin aka KSA aka Madminder when he left the ZX Spectrum scene. Why famous, you may ask? Well, most of the music in games and demos of that time came from him, actually (until nq/skrju has overtaken his seat :P). Based on the no less famous Brick Game handhelds which gained ENOURMOUS dose of nostalgia in the ex-USSR areas and which are still sold. Works well on 48K. I guess nothing else has to be said here. It's a quickie, after all.

DYNAMITE DAN II - FLYING DAN (ZX SPECTRUM - FULL GAME)

Zeus presents Dynamite Dan II (Dr. Blitzen and islands of Acarnum) (un-emulated) for the zx spectrum. A true classic from the golden era of spectrumgaming which must not be forgotten alongside the software house and all programmers that were involved in making this game. Very cool sequel, so many different wierd aliens to see. This was such a bloody FRUSTRATING game at times. You would do your best to just try to keep bombs or more importantly fuel in your grasp only for one of those white or purple BASTARDS to take them away and leave you stuck behind doors you can't open or no fuel to get off the island,...SO ANNOYING!!!!!!!!! I believe i got to island 4 without cheats when i played it years ago. Anyway, i got so fed up dying on lev.3 & 4 that i dug out a very old and very cool poke (cheat) that i typed out and saved 20+ years ago. Not only does it give me infinite energy, but it also allows Dan to fly and walk through all scenery!!! I played it as properly as i could, but island 5 is a bitch (Monty Python island stage) that i had to use the flying part of the cheat constantly,... it's quite funny to watch. Beware, if you collect the large pick-axe looking object on level 4, once you finish the level you will avoid level 5 and go straight to level 6, but maybe that's a good thing as level 5 (Monty) is a SODDING dangerous level. PS: Rod Bowkett, if you ever see this please let us Dan fans know just what happened to the end result of this game. Was this game completed in <b>...</b>
