Gaddafi's last moments alive

Qaddafi Is Killed as Libyan Forces Take Surt Sirte, Libya — Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi's last moments Thursday were as violent as the uprising that overthrew him. In a cellphone video that went viral on the Internet, the deposed Libyan leader is seen splayed on the hood of a truck and then stumbling amid a frenzied crowd, seemingly begging for mercy. He is next seen on the ground, with fighters grabbing his hair. Blood pours down his head, drenching his golden brown khakis, as the crowd shouts, "God is great!" Colonel Qaddafi's body was shown in later photographs, with bullet holes apparently fired into his head at what forensic experts said was close range, raising the possibility that he was executed by anti-Qaddafi fighters.

Qaddafi in 1976 (BBC)

Adam Curtis writes: "I have found a sort of fly-on-the-wall documentary made in 1976 which follows Muammar Gadaffi around as he goes about ruling Libya. The documentary makes it clear how repressive and brutal Gadaffi's regime is. How he has locked up and tortured thousands of his opponents. But then it takes a fascinating turn. The interviewer asks Gadaffi to explain why he has sent Libyan troops to fight with the Palestinians against Israel, and why he has sent in Libyan agents to try and overthrow President Sadat of Egypt. In response Gadaffi launches into an explanation that countries like Libya have a duty to intervene in other nations where the ordinary people are being oppressed by autocrats or oppressive governments - and help free them. That includes helping to liberate Egypt and Tunisia. But it also means, he says, that politicians like him are justified in intervening in Northern Ireland to help the Provisional IRA. Because they are oppressed by the British government. They too are victims. ** For more, see the Adam Curtis blog post at goo.gl

60 Minutes - "Libya's Qaddafi" (1980)

Continuing in the great FuzzyMemories tradition of finding and posting a clip too late to be entirely relevant, here is a 60 Minutes piece that I found which takes a look at the regime of Muammar Gaddafi. (or Qaddafi, or Kaddafi, or Mashugana). Featuring Harry Reasoner reporting. This particular recording was from Baltimore CBS affiliate WMAR Channel 2, but I assume this also aired on local Chicago TV on Sunday, March 23rd 1980. About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television: The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 3700+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at www.FuzzyMemories.TV

A Tribute to Colonel Muammar al-Qaddafi (The city of Sirte as it is now)

*In 1969, the British Special Air Service (SAS) was contacted by the Libyan Royal Family and planned an assassination attempt to restore the Libyan monarchy. The plan was to release 150 Royalist extremists from a jail in Tripoli as a catalyst for a general uprising. The prisoners would be recruited for a coup attempt, and the British agents would leave them to take over the nation. The plan was called off at a late stage by the British Secret Intelligence Service because the United States government decided that Gaddafi was anti-Marxist and therefore acceptable. * In 1976, Tunisia's state television reported that Gaddafi had been fired at by a lone assassin. None of the shots hit him. * In 1981, French president Valéry Giscard d'Estaing plotted an assassination attempt with Egypt. His administration spoke with the Reagan administration for approval, but the United States did not support the measure. The plot was abandoned after Giscard's term in office. * In 1986, the United States bombed Libya, including Gaddafi's family compound in the vast Bab al-Azizia Barracks in southern Tripoli. The US Government consistently said that the bombings were "surgical strikes" and were not intended to kill Gaddafi. However, Oliver North did devise a plot at the time to lure Gaddafi into his compound using Terry Waite. The plot violated US law, which prohibited assassinations, and was never put into action. On 15 April, Gaddafi and his family left his compound in the Bab al-Azizia ...

Qaddafi Flying White Flag When Killed - Wayne Madsen Report 1/2

Kurt Nimmo www.infowars.com www.prisonplanet.tv October 24, 2011 Appearing on the Alex Jones Show today, investigative journalist Wayne Madsen said his sources in Libya provided information revealing Moammar Gaddafi was set-up in an assassination plot. Early on October 19, Twitter messages from Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte reported the presence of white flags across the devastated town. Flags were reported at multiple locations in the town, leaving some to believe the rebels were surrendering, The use of white flags to signal surrender is an ancient tradition going back to the Eastern Han dynasty in China and the Roman Empire. Violating the widely accept convention is considered an act of extreme treachery. Under both the Geneva and Hague protocols of international humanitarian law, it is forbidden to kill or injure persons hors de combat (outside of combat) and doing so constitutes a major war crime. Madsen's sources said Gaddafi was told to surrender to the al-Qaeda rebels besieging Sirte before morning prayers at 5 am, but that it was decided to surrender after the sun was well up in the sky so the white flags would be clearly visible. It also appears likely the arrival of Secretary of State Clinton in Libya may have played into the plot and convinced Gaddafi to surrender. According to official accounts, however, Gaddafi was attempting to flee Sirte and avoid surrender. He was wounded in a Predator drone attack and subsequently killed by crossfire, either from the ...

The Life and Times of Muammar Qaddafi

After 42 years of dictatorial rule, Libya's former leader Muammar Qaddafi was killed on Thursday after National Transitional Council fighters captured his hometown of Sirte, which was also his last crucial stronghold, two months after his regime was brought down. Qaddafi, who was 69, is the first leader to have been killed from the nations of the Arab Spring, a regional uprising which has seen people from Tunisia, Egypt, Syria and Yemen rise up and demand an end to their decades long rule. Born in 1942 to nomadic parents, Qaddafi dropped out of Benghazi University to join the army. He made his first politically significant stance in September 1969 as the leader of junior army officers that saw the overthrowing of King Idriss in a military coup. Idriss was ruler of Libya since it gained independence from Italy in 1951. Drawing upon Arab nationalism, Qaddafi decided to cut ties with Western powers in favor of unifying Arab nations. However, his attempts, like the initiation of the Arab Federation with Egypt and Syria in April 1972, proved unsuccessful. He also organized opposition against the 1978 Camp David peace agreement between Egypt and Israel. His relationship with the West continued to dwindle into the early 1980s especially with the United States. He was accused of sending agents to bomb a club in Berlin popular amongst American marines, which consequentially resulted in US air strikes aimed at Benghazi and Tripoli. His home in Aziziya was struck and his adopted ...

The Early Show - Muammar Qaddafi dead reports معمر القذافي قتل

Gaddafi killed as Libya's revolt takes hometown معمر القذافي قتل Branded a "mad dog" by Ronald Reagan, Colonel Gaddafi has been associated with some of the most notorious terrorist atrocities of the pre-9/11 era. (Reuters) - Muammar Gaddafi is dead, Libya's new leaders said, killed by fighters who overran his hometown and final bastion on Thursday. His bloodied body was stripped and displayed around the world from cellphone video. Senior officials in the interim government, which ended his 42-year rule two months ago but had labored to subdue thousands of diehard loyalists, said his death opened the way for a declaration of "liberation" after eight months of war. His body was expected in the long-standing rebel stronghold of Misrata, officials said as their Western sponsors held off from confirming that Gaddafi, a self-styled king of kings whom they had lately courted after decades of enmity, was dead at 69. After Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril confirmed his demise, the new national flag, resurrected by rebels who forced Gaddafi from his capital Tripoli in August, filled streets and squares as jubilant crowds whooped for joy and fired in the air. In Sirte, a one-time fishing village and Gaddafi's hometown that grandiose schemes had styled a new "capital of Africa," fighters danced, brandishing a golden pistol they said they had taken from Gaddafi. Accounts were hazy of his final hours, which also appeared to have cost the lives of senior aides. But top officials of the ...

Post-Qaddafi Libya, Hillary Clinton, OWS Infiltrators & More: Nightly News Report

Tonight on this Friday, October 21, 2011 edition of the Infowars Nightly News, Alex discusses what is next for Libya in the wake of Col. Gaddafi's reported demise. The rebels, supposedly seeking democracy, summarily executed the former head of state without trial. Gaddafi himself will reportedly now be buried at sea, just as we were told with bin Laden. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, traveling around on Air Force 3, a veritable flying fortress, celebrated the death, laughing about how she 'came, saw and he died.' A comparison of Libya before and after the NATO "humanitarian" invasion demonstrates the crushing of a burgeoning civil society destroyed for its rise as an independent African power as much as for its rich oil resources. With Occupy Wall Street still in full force, Alex will also discuss the confirmed pattern of police spies, infiltrators and provocateurs sent to spy on peaceful protesters, as shocking cases in the UK demonstrate. In many cases, undercover agents even maintained a false identity during prosecution and while testifying under oath. In other news, Alex looks at the unveiling of radar technology developed at MIT that would allow the military to 'see through walls.' www.prisonplanet.tv

Qaddafi's Condoleeza Rice Photo Album

Bestselling Learn Guitar on Android! bit.ly Among the many bizarre items uncovered as Libyan rebels ransacked Muammar Gaddafi's Tripoli compound: an album filled with photos of former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The discovery was perhaps not surprising given Gaddafi's much-professed admiration of the former US Secretary of State, MSNBC is noting. "I support my darling black African woman," Gaddafi told al-Jazeera television in 2007, according to The Guardian. "I admire and am very proud of the way she leans back and gives orders to the Arab leaders...Leezza, Leezza, Leezza. I love her very much. I admire her and I'm proud of her because she's a black woman of African origin." In 2008, Rice historically became the first US Secretary of State to visit Tripoli since 1953. She and Gaddafi are reported to have enjoyed a private dinner, during which a State Department reportindicates the Libyan leader also showered his visitor with an estimated $212000 worth of gifts -- including a diamond ring in a wooden box, a lute and an accompanying DVD, and a locket with Qaddafi's own picture inside. And, as it now comes out, he apparently assembled — or had a minion assemble — a photo album dedicated exclusively to Ms. Rice. Which just goes to show that even murderous dictators can have high-school crushes. thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com www.huffingtonpost.com photoblog.msnbc.msn.com content.usatoday.com

Barack Obama Is a Muslim - Qaddafi

Libyan leader Mu'ammar al-Qadhafi proclaims Barack Obama suffers from an inferiority complex that might make him behave "whiter than white". He goes on to mention that Obama should be proud of his African, Muslim [sic] identity. The Libyan gives his take on the current elections campaign in the United States. Qadhafi was responding to Obama's AIPAC pandering in which he stated Jerusalem shall be undivided at the Isralobby's 2008 Policy Conference. This statement incurred the wrath of the Arab media which led Obama to later 'readjust' his statement. Everytime I watch a Qadhafi speech I burst into laughter. This man -- a merge of Mick Jagger and Gene Simmons -- tends to be an Africanist one day and a pan-Arabist the next. The man is getting old. Have fun watching! Originally broadcast on al-Jazeera TV. Qaddafi's Academy for Bodyguards

This military jacket is all that is left of the memories of Amira, a young woman who studied at the police officers academy before joining Muammar Qaddafi's Revolutionary Guards. Amira, who had resigned from her post before the uprising began, had said that the job of being Qaddafi's bodyguards attracted poor women who had no other source of income available to them. Her sister Inas got a job at the airport in Tripoli after graduating from the same academy, unlike the majority of her classmates who got jobs as Qaddafi's bodyguards after graduation. These two sisters accompanied Al-Arabiya on a tour of the police officers academy which is today being guarded by fighters of the National Transitional Council. Qaddafi's regime gathered all the graduates of the academy as well as serving police officers and Revolutionary Guards and ordered them to fight the NTC fighters. All that seems left from that time are certificates of appreciation belonging to former students. Al Arabiya asked the sisters about the rumors that Qaddafi raped his female guards, a charge Amira said she knew nothing about. She did, however, say that the former Libyan leader was always trying to get people attention in various ways. "I have heard of that a lot. When I went to revolutionary guards, my family strongly objected because they were worried about me. I came from the east, from the al-Hasi tribe and I lived in Tripoli. Webster Tarpley: Qaddafi Forces Still Resisting NATO's Rape of Libya

Thierry Meyssan tarpley.net August 21, 2011 Tripoli, Libya, Aug. 22, 2011, 1 AM CET-- On Saturday evening, at 8pm, when the hour of Iftar marked the breaking of the Ramadan fast, the NATO command launched its "Operation Siren" against Libya. The Sirens were the loudspeakers of the mosques, which were used to launch Al Qaeda's call to revolt against the Qaddafi government. Immediately the sleeper cells of the Benghazi rebels went into action. These were small groups with great mobility, which carried out multiple attacks. The overnight fighting caused 350 deaths and 3000 wounded. The situation calmed somewhat on Sunday during the course of the day. Then, a NATO warship sailed up and anchored just off the shore at Tripoli, delivering heavy weapons and debarking Al Qaeda jihadi forces, which were led by NATO officers. Fighting started again during the night. There were intense firefights. NATO drones and aircraft kept bombing in all directions. NATO helicopters strafed civilians in the streets with machine guns to open the way for the jihadis. In the evening, a motorcade of official cars carrying top government figures came under attack. The convoy fled to the Hotel Rixos, where the foreign press is based. NATO did not dare to bomb the hotel because they wanted to avoid killing the journalists. Nevertheless the hotel, which is where I am staying, is now under heavy fire. At 11:30pm, the Health Minister had to announce that the hospitals were full to overflowing. On Sunday ...

Escape Route for Qaddafi Loyalists

As clashes continue in Libya, Niger's desert north region has become an escape route for rebel-minded nomads, al Qaeda-linked gunmen and possible refuge for Muammar Qaddafi. On Sunday, Niger's government said that Saadi, one of Gaddafi's sons, is en route to Agadez, a desert town 1000 kilometers away from the country's capital, Niamey. At least two top Qaddafi generals, as well as his security chief, are said to be in Niamey. The hospitality of the blue-turbaned Tuareg nomads who reside deep in Niger's desert is well known, and in times of peace in the region they host travelers. After the last rebellion in the area inhabited by the Tuareg ended two years ago there were plans to increase tourism, but the kidnapping of Westerners by groups linked to al Qaeda have prevented that from happening. September marks the anniversary of the seven foreigners who were kidnapped in Arlit a town known for its uranium-mining. It's said four of the hostages are still captive in a neighboring city Mali. Due to the continuous conflict in Libya the country faces increasing difficulties affecting the locals. "We don't export the camels as before to Algeria and Libya because of the fall of the Algerian currency and the war in Libya. There are other countries that come to look for camels, like Nigeria, but that's not worth it for us; it's like with Algeria ... their money doesn't have value. Mystery Continues to Surround Qaddafi's Death

A member of Libya's National Transitional Council on Sunday said that former leader Muammar Qaddaf's death was a result of bullet wounds sustained when fighters captured his home town of Sirte on Thursday. The leader of the unit of Libyan fighters which captured Qaddafi said on Sunday that they did their best to keep him alive. Omar Ahmed Al Shibani said his troops had come across the leader and his army chief hiding after NATO air strikes devastated their convoy attempting to escape Sirte. When he was caught, Qaddafi was armed with a Smith and Wesson weapon loaded with bullets, and two assault rifles nearby. In the early hours of Sunday, a medical examination revealed that Qaddafi suffered one bullet wound in the left side of his head and one in his abdomen. Although it is clear that he died from the bullet wounds, much mystery continues to surround the circumstances of his death. Al Shibani said, ''We handed him over to the ambulance and he was bleeding from his head and there was blood in his abdomen. But it was a matter of moments so we could not ascertain where exactly he was bleeding from, but it is clear from the pictures that there was a blood on his clothes in the chest and abdomen area and blood dripping on his face but he was alive." In another video, shot later, Qaddafi is seen lying dead in an ambulance, somewhere between Sirte and Misrata. The leader of Libya's transitional government, Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, declared the country liberated Sunday, three days ...

NTC Surges into Qaddafi's Final Bastions

Anti-Qaddafi forces entered Bani Walid and Sirte on Friday in violent attacks on the last strongholds still in the hands of Muammar Qaddafi loyalists. Heavy gunfire was heard across the hills surrounding Bani Walid, which has been under siege for two weeks. In Sirte, National Transitional Council (NTC) fighters captured the airport, which lies about six mile south of the city, Qaddafi's hometown. Mohammed al-Alagi, Justice Minister of the National Transitional Council said, "Rebels entered Sirte yesterday. They then retreated yesterday, possibly to secure some areas. It's a matter of hours before I believe the siege on the residents of the city will be lifted and they will join the revolution. They have been under siege by some mercenaries and by some remnants of the former regime." The developments in the coastal town came as Turkey's prime minister arrived in Tripoli. After nearly seven months of fighting, anti-Qaddafi forces backed by NATO air power control most of Libya, including oil-producing centers and the capital, which they seized last month. Qaddafi Loyalists in Tajura Prison

Tripoli's Tajura prison is full of men accused of fighting for Muammar Qaddafi. Some prisoners were injured in battle, and others were captured when trying to escape the battlefield. However, few of the prisoners confessed to fighting for Qaddafi; the majority of them denied any relationship with the strongman's regime. For example, one of the detainees in the prison, Muhammad Abu Bakr, a blacksmith from Chad, denies he was carrying arms, as the rebels alleged. "The rebels stopped and asked me, "what is your nationality?" I told them I am from Chad. They replied get out! Do you have weapons? I said no, I'm a poor man," said Abu Bakr. The women being held in the prison also have their share of stories. Many say they were forced to carry arms and fight for Qaddafi. "I arrived when the uprising began, on February 20 exactly. I entered Libya through Egypt. I was given weapons but I was not a volunteer in the popular guard," a female prisoner told us. Nevertheless, all prisoners are being treated decently and are provided food and medical care, says the prison's warden, Abdel Hakim Halib. Another female prisoner said, "We get everything we want. Yes, there are times when the guards come in and tell you inappropriate things, but then they leave," she said. However, rights group Amnesty International's Diana Al Tahnawi said that rebel forces have in some instances violated the rights of Qaddafi soldiers, especially when arresting them. Delivering Breaking Hit News Pieces - www.CollectiveCheckup.com Ron Paul warned what would happen when the US continues to police the world and prop up and remove dictators of their choosing. Despite not being attacked by Libya, President Obama unlawfully used the cop out of NATO to police the world how he sees fit, in this case Libya. Ron Paul warned against this because not only is it not authorized by the Constitution, but unintended consequences always seem to hit us in the form of blowback. Now, as Paul predicted, Al Qaeda is moving into Libya to recruit more extremism against the intervention of the US. http
