اَللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنَا فِيْمَنْ هَدَيْتَ Allaahummahdinaa feeman hadait (Aameen), وَعَافِنَا فِيْمَنْ عَافَيْتَ Wa 'aafinaa feeman 'aafait (Aameen), وَتَوَلَّنَا فِيمَنْ تَوَلَّيْتَ Watawallanaa feeman tawallait (Aameen), وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِيْمَا أَعْطَيْتَ Wabaarik lanalla feemaa a'atait (Aameen), وَقِنَا شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ Waqinaa sharra maa qadait (Aameen), فَإِنَّكَ تَقْضِيْ بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا يُقْضَى عَلَيْكَ Fa-innaka taqdie walaa yuqdaa 'alaik (Haqqaa), وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَذِّلُ مَنْ وَاْلَيْتَ، وَلَا يَعِزُّ مَنْ عَادَيْتَ Wa-innahu laa yadhillu man waalait, walaa ya'izzu man 'aadait (Haqqaa), تَبَارَكْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَيْتَ Tabaarakta rabbanaa wata'aalait (Yaa Allaah), لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَى مَا قَضَيْتَ Lakal-hamdu 'alaa maa qadait (al-Hamdulillaah), نَسْتَغْفِرُكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَنَتُوْبُ إِلَيْكَ Nastaghfiruk-allaahumma wanatoobu ilaik (Astaghfirullaah). Du'aa al-Qunoot Supplicating to Allaah (swt) and seeking his forgiveness and mercy is a duty upon every Muslim, and is described in numerous ahaadeeth (sayings of the Prophet [saw]) to be the weapon of the believer and 'The Worship', as it is a ritual act in Islaam which if offered to anything other than Allaah will take one outside the fold of Islaam. Professor imam shiekh ali abdullah Jabir Remembered for his Melodious Recitation. JEDDAH, 17 December 2005 — Shiekh Ali Jabir, who was one of the imams of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, passed away on Wednesday following a prolonged illness. He was 53. Shiekh ali Jabir's melodious recitation of the Holy Qur'an gave spiritual exaltation to millions of Muslims within the Kingdom and abroad. He worked as professor of Islamic studies at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah and associate professor at the university's Madinah branch. Dr. Abdullah Omar Naseef, former deputy chairman of the Shoura Council, praised the late scholar for his understanding of the Qur'an, adding that he had made a lot of efforts in teaching the divine book in an attractive manner. Abdullah Basfar, a well-known reciter of the Qur'an and imam of the Shuaibi mosque, said he used to imitate the late scholar. "Shiekh ali Jabir used to recite the Qur'an, at least two parts, every day. He continued this custom even after he fell sick," Basfar said. Hasan Safar, a colleague at the university, said Shiekh ali Jabir's death was a big loss for the Islamic nation. He gave lectures in fiqh in a unique way, explaining the legal issues in the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah. الشيخ سعد بن ناصر الشثري Where to Look During Qunoot? Shaykh Sa'ad ibn Nasir ash-Shitri Question - This is the last question, the questioner asks, "where does the supplicating person look when standing for the Dua for Qunoot?" Answer - If the supplicating person is making Dua during the prayer then the ruling is that he looks towards the place of Sujood (prostration). He looks at the place he is going to prostrate to just as he would do in the remaining pillars of the prayer. And he does not raise his eyesight to the sky nor does he look in front of him. And it appears in an authentic narration that the Messenger of Allaah (peace & blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade raising the eyesight to the sky. And he said, "Surely the people will either stop raising their sight to the sky or their sight will be taken away from them and it shall not return to them." Therefore, the sight should be directed toward the place of Sujood (prostration). And if the sight is raised slightly in front of him then this is permissible because it appears in a Hadeeth that the Messenger (peace & blessings be upon him) of Allaah looked at the niche in front of him, and he saw a portion of grapes in front of him. So, this is permissible but the person should not do it on a continual basis nor make it his habit.
