Dua Qunut: Ali Ibn Abdullah ibn Ali Jaber (دعاء القنوت - علي جابر)
Ali Jaber, born Ali Ibn Abdullah Ibn Ali Jaber, was an eminent reciter from Saudi Arabia. He was born in Jeddah in 1373 Hijri. While he was five, Ali moved with his parents to Madinah where he had memorized the Holy Quran at the age of 15. In 1396 HIjri, Ali Jaber joined the Sharias Faculty of the Islamic University and graduated in 1365. Fresh out, he enrolled in the High Institute of Magistracy and prepared a thesis he supported in 1400. His research was carried out in the Abullah Ibn Omars Fiqh and its impact on the Madinahs School. Graduated with honors, Ali Jaber was proposed to be judge in Mayssane but he preferred the position of Adminstrative Inspector and shortly became professor of Arab Language and Islamic studies in the Education Faculty of Madinah Monawara relevant to King Fahd Abdul Aziz University. Later on, Ali Jaber, who was imam and reciter in many Saudi mosque, was nominated Imam of the private mosque of the late King Khalid Ibn Abdul Aziz. While the Custodian of the two holy mosques moved to Jeddah, Ali Jaber was nominated Imam of the Holy mosque of Makkah. In 1403, Ali Jaber asked to be exempted from his functions of imam and took them back to lead evening-prayers in Ramadans and then as an official imam of the Holy Mosque in the same year he got his doctorate certificate in 1407 Hijri. Ali Jaber died in 1426 Hijri in Jedda (May Allaah have mercy on him)

Faraj Hassan's Last Tarawih Prayer - Witr and Qunut
Former control order detainee Faraj Hassan Alsaadi led 90 brothers and sisters in salatu-taraweeh outside the US embassy London, as part of the Aafia: The Last Stand rally, organised by the Justice for Aafia Coalition (JFAC). Unknown to most people, Faraj Hassan was a haafidh al-Qur'aan who studied riwayah Qaalun 'an Naafi' in Libya and thereafter travelled to Pakistan where he obtained ijaaza in the Riwayah of Hafs 'an 'Aasim and studied the riwayah of Khalaf 'an Hamza. He was studying the remainder of the Qira'aat. Only 9 hours after the prayer ended, Faraj died in a tragic motorcycle accident on August 16th. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon - to God we belong and to Him we return. As Faraj died whilst fasting in the blessed month of Ramadhan, we pray that the hadith is glad tidings for him -"Whoever fasts one day seeking the Face of Allah and that was his final action, will enter Paradise." "Allaahumma ihdini feeman hadayta wa 'aafini feeman 'aafayta wa tawallani feeman tawallayta wa baarik li feema a'tayta, wa qini sharra ma qadayta , fa innaka taqdi wa la yuqda 'alayk, wa innahu laa yadhillu man waalayta wa laa ya'izzu man 'aadayta, tabaarakta Rabbana wa ta'aalayta la munji minka illa ilayk (O Allaah, guide me among those whom You have guided, pardon me among those whom You have pardoned, turn to me in friendship among those on whom You have turned in friendship, and bless me in what You have bestowed, and save me from the evil of what You have decreed. For verily You decree and none can influence You; and he is not humiliated whom You have befriended, nor is he honoured who is Your enemy. Blessed are You, O Lord, and Exalted. There is no place of safety from You except with You)." (Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1213; al-Nasaa'i, 1725; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Irwa', 429). It was narrated from 'Ali ibn Abi Taalib that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say at the end of Witr: "Allaahumma inni a'oodhu bi ridaaka min sakhatika wa bi mu'aafaatika min 'uqoobatika wa a'oodhu bika minka, la uhsi thana'an 'alayka anta kama athnayta 'ala nafsika (O Allaah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment. I cannot praise You enough; You are as You have praised Yourself." (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1727; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Irwa', 430; Saheeh Abi Dawood, 1282). Then he <b>...</b>
