... Amazing video of gas powered RC aircraft being shot down with massive machine gun fire! It all happened at the October, 2010 Big Sandy MG Shoot near Wikieup, Arizona. The weather started out iffy but turned into a blessing as there where no fires due to the earlier rains. We managed to run through 1500 reactive targets and 38 planes. The airplanes didn't stand a chance as everyone's Triple A capabilities were awesome. I do not remember any of the airplanes making it through more than 6 passes with most of them getting shot down in 2 or 3. The night flying was real cool to watch and presented a problem for our pilot to see his plane as most of the tracer fire was green and the lights on the planes were green.. We figured there where 200 rds a second going up at the planes when they presented themselves. The sky was filled with the tracers!

This Radio Controlled airplane is a scratch built 1936 Lanzo Record Breaker with an eight foot wing span. It is about 12 years old & has seen many configurations from gas powered tow plane, camera ship, autonomous test platform, to video transmitting search plane. In its current configuration, it is a Night Nite flying rc airplane with 30 meters of LED lights. (I know I said 6 meter in the video, but I was nervous) Thats a total of one thousand eight hundred individual led lights The motor is a Hacker B-50 L-13 with gearbox, prop is 20X10, thats a 20 inch diameter, with a Castle Creations 80 AMP speed control and a six cell 5000 Mah Thunder Power Extreme V2 li-po motor battery. The LED are powered by three separate 3 cell 2100 Mah li-po batteries. The ship was flown at the SCCMAS facility in Morgan Hill, California by Walter Colby. Don't complain about the camera work I found the camera guy in the home depot parking lot. wcolby HD www.sccmas.org The LEDs draw approximately 1.2 amps for every 5 meters at 11.1Volts. I have 5 meters of red & 5 meters of green in the wing run by a single 2100 Mah 3 cell lithium polymer battery. I have 5 meters of blue on the tail & 5 meters of white on the sides of the fuselage run by another 2100 Mah 3 cell lithium polymer battery pack. And finally there is 10 meters of white LED on the bottom of the fuselage run by a third 2100 Mah 3 cell lithium polymer battery. This is a question I'm often asked and in this video, I'll tell you what I think is the best combination of radio and RC plane for those wanting to get into the hobby. The AXN Clouds Fly Floater is an incredibly durable model that is also very easy to fly. What's more, the total cost of getting started is well under $200 even when you include shipping fees. The AXN can be purchased from a number of different hobby stores and usually sells for between $45 and $50, the 9X radio is also widely available but the cheapest source is (like it or not) HobbyKing, where this radio is called the Turnigy 9X and lists for under $60. It would also pay to get the matching HobbyKing 6-channel receiver because the 8-channel one that comes with the radio is a little large for this model. Just a note however, if you buy the version with servos and ESC already installed, you really should by a separate UBEC to power your RC gear as the one built into that standard ESC is not powerful enough. This is a foam scratch built plane I named the Cess-nah!!! It is the best flying plane in my arsenal of 10. I tried to build it for $10 but because I added landing gear and actual hinges instead of tape, it ended up costing about $11. It took three days to build and I've been flying it for 6 months or so. The very fast pylon racer RC plane I featured a few months back returned to the field last weekend and I captured some more video of it. Top speed is around 320kph but on this run I think the engine was a little rich. Still pretty impressive (and really loud) though. Oh, and the glorious smell of castor oil -- you just don't get that with electric models. The smell of burnt wiring, melting ESCs and venting lipos is really not the same! 30000+ RPMs -- so sweet!

A micro camera is installed onboard an r/c plane F-16. The camera transmit live the video to ground and I wear video goggle to fly the plane in real time like if I was in the cockpit. The camera replace the head of the pilot and the movement of the cam is control by the movement of my head on ground via a head mount gyroscope (head tracker) The whole system cost me around $1500 including the plane. But it is many hours of hand made modifcation. You can start with simpler video system that cost around $500 and install it on your own r/c plane.
