After selling my Red Bull KTM RC8 ( See my other videos) I decided to go for the new Aprilia RSV4. The choice of exhausts was limited but then I spotted this MotoGP style can from Rich at www.austinracing.info The exhaust is something different and the build quality is great. The very competitive price is an added bonus and Rich is excellent to deal with. This video is filmed with the baffle out just to see what it was like as I run the bike on the road with it fitted. The sound is incredible and this video does not do it justice. The first 80 seconds are with the bike in neutral then you can hear the note change when the bike is put in to gear which opens a valve. The bike is not run in yet but initial impressions are that it is awesome, have a listen !!

This is the new 2010 Aprilia RSV4 Factory. The new RSV4 weighs a true 434lbs on our certified Intercomp scales with about a gallon of fuel and every other fluid needed to ride, a VERY light bike for out of the crate. This one lost about 10 lbs with the stock pipe being replaced by the Leo Vince Slip-On. Factory Pro Dyno's at this bhp level read about 17% lower than the average Dynojet dyno putting to rest hopefully the "underpowered" rumor circulating the internet, a stock 2009 Suzuki Huyabusa makes 145 on this same dyno. The DynoJet correction factor would be about 163 DJHP. The pipe on this bike is the latest offering from Leo Vince and is running a completely stock mapping in the ECU as well as closed loop feedback from the o2 sensor, something I will fix soon. There is another 10-12 "easy" bhp in this machine and as much as 20 more if you are a "balls out" guy with deep pockets, putting it in the same league as Ducati's Desmosedici or D16RR for 1/3 or less the price. The sound from the 65 degree Aprilia/Piaggio engine is music, like only Italians can make come from an air pump.

With BMWs S1000RR and KTMs updated and new-to-the-US RC8R as an all-new model, the field of liter-ish superbikes expands considerably for 2010. Apologies to MV Agusta for not counting the 2010 F4, but no ones yet signed up to race it in a large-scale series the KTM was the runner-up in the 2009 IDM (International German Superbike Championship). We sure wouldnt mind a spin on the MV, though. (Hint, hint, MV Agusta.) Like the race grid, well now expand the roster of contestants in our annual liter test. No longer limiting the battle to the Big Four from Japan, well eventually include the BMW S1000RR on the list of participants powered by the popular inline-Four configuration. But for now, to start off what has become a literbike mêlée, were first evaluating all the Vee configuration contenders.
