Well, 4.2 has arrived, and Enigma has defeated the normal version of the new Firelands raid! Today we blazed through all of the bosses, starting with Alysrazor, then onto Shannox, Rhyolith, Beth'tilac, Baleroc, Staghelm, and finally, the Lord of the Elemental Plane of Fire, Ragnaros! Ragnaros took us nearly as long to kill as the rest of the instance, and is a pretty fun and hectic fight. The fight has 3 phases, with an intermediate phase in between each where Rag submerges and adds appear that must be killed before they reach Rag's hammer. Considering we are all in best-in-slot or nearly best-in-slot gear, it is in general a tough fight, especially compared to the rest of the instance. Heroic mode is going to be super intense! This is Enigma's attempt at Firelord Ragnaros, final boss of the new Firelands dungeon, which is currently in the process of being tested on the Public Test Realms. This was done in the 10 man version, normal mode. This fight has 3 stages with an "Intermission" stage in between each. On this attempt, we made it to the second intermission phase before dying, and then we were all ported out of the instance. With some additional tuning and fixing of camera/environment issues this looks to be a very fun fight! Note: Known bugs so far are that the lava waves don't always appear from the Sulfuron Smash, and the Lava Elementals that appear during Stage 2 are supposed to buff each other and become un-snareable when near each other and are currently not doing that. From Fraya, on our website: "Almost exactly 100 hours of raiding, over 450 attempts, a week and a half of 24 manning, and a core 30% different from what it was at the start of progression. This has been, by far, the hardest trial for Enigma we have ever faced, or any guild on Deathwing. I can't say for sure if this is the hardest raid boss of all time, because each tier we've been closer and closer to the cutting edge, but I can say this is the hardest boss we've ever touched, and completely unique in his progression style. If I were pressed to describe the boss, I would say it's like taking the 3 next hardest bosses in Firelands, and sticking them back to back. No part of Ragnaros, individually, was more difficult than another fight, but the zero-error margin combined with the epic fight length render the most endurance based boss fight ever. Even the harrowing 30+ minute Kael'thas attempts cannot compare, simply because of the difference in intensity. Ragnaros P4 can wipe the raid with a flick of his wrist with even greater frequency than Heroic Lich King. Phase One Edit Starts at 100%. [Sulfuras Smash]ω δ . He targets the ground with his hammer and lava begins to boil on the ground; a few seconds later, he slams the hammer down. This impact causes [Lava Wave]ω δ to radiate out from the blast. They put a debuff that can be dispelled that causes periodic damage. It's likely in heroic it would hit for too much or be unremovable as a way to make the mechanic more punishing. [Magma Traps]ω δ . He summons one on a random player in the raid. They function a lot like the Shadow Trap mechanic from heroic Lich King, except they don't remove you from the platform. This makes them relatively harmless. Unlike the heroic Lich King ones, they also don't despawn during phase transitions. [Hand of Ragnaros] is cast every once in a while and it's a lot like Static Shock from the Al'Akir encounter. Ragnaros also casts [Wrath of Ragnaros]ω δ . Phase Two Edit Phase two starts at 70%. Ragnaros spawns his Sons of Flameω δ after throwing down Sulfuras. They have a buff called [Burning Speed]ω δ which increases their speed if their HP is above 50%. Ragnaros throws down a [Molten Seed]ω δ at every member of the raid. After ten seconds, they spawn adds that can't be tanked. Luckily they don't hit for very much, either. He also casts [Engulfing Flames]ω δ on the platform to make certain areas obscured, this doesn't become much of an issue until phase three, but should still be watched out for.
