In 1966-67 Terry Knight and the Pack were THE MOST CHERISHED REGIONAL ROCK GROUP in the American Midwest. The band showed its commitment to the region by recording in Cleveland and Philadelphia, touring from Illinois to Pennsylvania and everywhere in between, appearing regularly on Cleveland's UPBEAT television program, and embodying an image consistent with the changing social and economic forces of the rustbelt 1960s (just look at the photo on the back of their first album). As a result, the group was immensely popular in the area. - - - - - - - - - - - - - Here are a few of the Pack's lesser-known songs, taken from their debut single and the rare TRACK ON! album, released a few years after the group broke up: 1) "How Much More (Have I Got to Give)" 2) "I Got News for You" 3) "Down in the Valley" Terry Knight and the Pack were a talented group of guys, and it's a real shame that their music has never been released on CD.

We have just purchased a great assortment of hard-to-find Beatles vinyl rarities including the controversial Butcher Cover version of Yesterday and Today, six of the original fan-club-only 7 Xmas flexis, and more As a quick recap for those of you who are unaware, the butcher cover is infamous for its depiction of the band dressed in white coats and covered with decapitated baby dolls and pieces of meat. The records were on sale this way for one day, caused much outrage, and were immediately recalled. Rather than scrapping the covers entirely, Capitol pasted on a different picture and redistributed them. They are now amongst the most collectable records in the world. This copy is a 3rd State (peeled, with the original cover showing). They often get ripped in the peeling process, but this one is in excellent condition. We are putting it out at $599.99. Fortuitously timed, this collection has six of the original Beatles Christmas 7 flexis (very thin and flexible vinyl, like the singles that were in magazines or on the back of cereal boxes through the sixties). GONDOR IN DECLINE - as heard in the FOTR when Boromir speaks of his father during the Council of Elrond GONDOR IN ASCENSION - DA says this about Gondor in Ascension: "though the Ascension theme is not fully heard until the third film, the Heroics of Aragorn theme...hints at the second half of the Ascension melody." (Doug Adams, CR-FOTR liner notes, page 20) The iterations of the Gondor Theme, as heard in the first two movies, all use the 'Decline' setting. It isn't until ROTK that the 'Ascension' setting appears. I think the difference between the two settings can be seen in this way: Decline Setting: The Gondor Theme, as heard in the Council of Elrond, repeats a similar phrase twice. Each time, although it ascends in places, it ends with a descension... a down note. All of the FOTR and TTT instances use the Gondor in Decline setting. Ascension Setting: The Gondor Theme, heard as Gandalf and Pippin gallop towards Minas Tirith, begins in a similar manner as in the Decline setting, but instead of descending, it ascends in a phrase quite like the Heroics of Aragorn. This ascension phrase also forms Faramir and Denethor's theme.
