2 Quad Muscle Stretches for the Knee Tibialis Anterior Rectus Femoris Stretch

ExercisesForInjuries... ***ATTENTION FITNESS PROFESSIONALS***, visit Exercises for Injuries in order to receive your $299 Fitness Education gift. I had a running client that was wanting a tibialis anterior stretch because they were feeling a lot of tightness in their shin. I showed him how to modify the good old quad stretch to be a tibialis anterior stretch. The tibialis anterior gets tight in people that walk, run and hike so it is an important area to stretch. Let me go through how to turn the good old quad stretch into two effective stretches for the knee and runners. The good old quad stretch focus on rectus femoris and the second one on tibialis anterior. The good old quad stretch - grabbing something for support in order to eliminate balance so you can end up focusing on the stretch - lean your weight onto one leg - grabbing the forefoot and pulling the heel towards the seat - now move the knee back a touch - you are looking for a stretch in the quadriceps or the rectus femoris The new tibialis anterior quad stretch: - take your footwear off - shift your hand position more towards the toes and pull your toes back - bring the heel towards to the seat - then bringing the knee back a touch With the toes pulled back, you get a tibialis anterior stretch and a rectus femoris stretch. If the stretch ends up being to strong of a stretch, I can bring the knee more forward and just focus on the tibialis anterior stretch. If you are looking for more stretches to help your ...

Video 3- Anterior Surgical Approach

This surgical approach provides an excellent view of the acetabulum and the proximal femur including the important natural landmarks for adequate implant positioning. The approach follows the internervous plane between the tensor muscle and the sartorious and rectus femoris muscles using a section of the approach described by Smith Petersen.1 No tendons or muscles are cut or detached. The joint capsule is split and left in place. The hip joint is not dislocated; we perform the osteotomy of the femoral neck in situ. To date we have performed several hundred MicroHip™ operations, and thus far we have never observed severe nerve lesions or fractures of the greater trochanter. Our surgical method is reproduceable for teaching and it suits most of the patients; however we recommend to start using MicroHip with average sized patients. Visit www.boisehipandkneecenter.com to find out more.

Hanging Leg Raises- Crazy AB workout for six pack abdominal exercise

www.strength-project.com http please visit our website and facebook for more training advice, tips, and discussions. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS EXERCISE! If you havent mastered basic abdominal crunches, and developed a strong core, then leg raises can cause lower back pain. This is primarily a hip flexor exercise unless if legs are raised past 90 degrees. When done correctly, these are some of my favorite ab workouts. Raise legs by flexing hips and knees until hips are fully flexed. Rectus Abdominis and Obliques only dynamically contract only if actual waist flexion occurs. With no waist flexion, Rectus Abdominis and External Oblique will only isometrically contract to stabilize pelvis and waist during hip flexion.

Anatomy of anterior abdominal wall - dissection

Objectives: After completion of this video session it is expected that the students will be able to understand and demonstrate the: • Fascia of the anterolateral abdominal wall: - Superficial fascia: fatty layer and membranous layer. - Deep (investing) fascia. - Endoabdominal fascia. • The linea alba is a strong fibrous raphe where the flat abdominal muscles decussate and interweave. • The flat abdominal muscles: - External oblique muscle. - Internal oblique muscle. - Transverse abdominis muscle. - Direction of fibers, layers, the concept of digastric muscles. • The superficial inguinal ring: formation. • Formation and attachments of the inguinal ligament. • The rectus abdominis: attachments and tendinous intersections. • Pyramidalis is a small occasional muscle. • Formation and contents of the rectus sheath. • Formation of the arcuate line. • Location of the neurovascular plane. • Arterial supply of the anterolateral abdominal wall: the anastomosis of the superior and inferior epigastric arteries. • Venous drainage of the anterolateral abdominal wall: Portal hypertension and caput medusae. • To which direction should the rectus muscle be retracted in a paramedian incision? Presented and edited by Dr.Akram Jaffar (PhD). Filmed by Faiza Abdirisaq, Farah El-Sawy, and Muhanad Eid (Medical students). Filmed at College of Medicine/ University of Sharjah, 2012. TRX Reverse Crunch Progression

The TRX Reverse Crunch is an excellent variation to the traditional reverse crunch movement and can provide for improved trunk stabilizer activation leading to increased effort. Specifically, the exercise has the potential to enhance the strength and endurance of the rectus abdominis (lower fibers), deep core musculature such as the transverse abdominis, external and internal obliques, hip flexors, as well as the shoulder and scapular stabilizers. Due to the increased stabilization demands of the activity, the participant can anticipate improved motor recruitment from core musculature. With regular employment, the exercise can promote improved force coupling between the hips and trunk and as well as enhanced force transfer during compound dynamic exercises. The complexity and challenge associated with maintaining proper form can provide for improvements in total body coordination, balance, and kinesthetic awareness. As with many TRX exercise variations, for a given movement, the total quantity of musculature addressed increases as the movement challenges the transfer of force through multiple segments of the body. The variations to the TRX reverse crunch will further add to the stabilization demands while increasing activation of either the hip abductors or the internal and external obliques, depending on the variation performed. The exercise will potentially improve hip stability and balance by aggressively addressing the commonly weaker segment of the rectus abdominis ...

Correction: The muscle I called the Lats are actually part of the Trapezius! The lats are along the sides, which I didn't point to in this video. The lats are sometimes called the "wings" that swimmers often develop. Another bit of correction caught by one of the viewers: "at 7:32 you made a mistake. The rectus abdominus is actually not the most superficial muscle. Its located in the second layer, just medial to the internal obliques. Also, the muscle you identified as the external oblique are actually the internal obliques. The most superficial muscle in the abdominal region is the external obliques. The part the covers the majority of the rectus abdominus is the abdominal aponeurosis." I'm sorry about the mistakes and any confusion they may have caused!

Plank Hold

The trainers at Conditioning Specialists show you how to expertly perfrom a plank hold to build a strong core. Muscles Being Used: Rectus Abdominus Transverse Abdominus External Obliques Internal Obliques The Rectus Abdominus is the muscle that we usually associate with the "six-pack." The Transverse Abdominus is the deepest muscle in our core, and works as a stabilizer in this move. The internal and external obliques make up a "corset" around our core, and are engaged in this exercise. Progressions: Move up onto your toes from your knees. Lift one leg up Common Deviations: An arched lower back: make sure your spine forms a straight line from the top of your head down to your feet. A rounded back: If your butt sticks up into the air, bring it down so that your spine forms a straight line from the top of your head down to your feet. Excessive neck extention: Make sure your neck is in line with your spine. Rounded shoulders: If your forearms are not directly under your shoulders, it can create unnecessary tension in your upper trapezius and neck. Make sure your body is properly aligned. www.conditioningspecialists.com
