Autism - Repetitive Behaviors Like Rocking and Flapping

Comments to this video are now closed. Video featured in Wired Magazine Stress and how we as humans deal with it is the subject of this video. I believe neurotypical people can sometimes misinterpret an emotion such as stress when viewing the behaviors of autistic people like me and others. Every human experiences stress. Part of our shared experience is the emotion of stress (fight or flight). Whenever we feel we are being judged, we feel stress. Have you ever experienced the stress to perform or live up to an "image" in your life? If so, you have something in common with autistic people. Most people experience stress in their lives to perform under pressure, whether it is in your job or with your spouse or family. Both autistic people and "normal" people experience stress and pressure. However, stress can manifest itself in autistic people in ways that are misunderstood by so called "normal" people. When both autistic and "normal" people experience stress, it often manifests itself physcially in what is psychiatrically called "repetitive behaviors". So called "normal" people exhibit stress with repetitive behaviors just like autistic people. However, their repetitive behaviors are considereed socially "appropriate" and are not subject to judgement. Neurotypical repetitive behaviors are considered "normal" or in the mainstream. No one would consider that they need to be modified or "cured". However, for autistic people, because our stress coping mechanisms are different <b>...</b>

Guitar Styles: Repetitive Licks in Classic Metal

www.creativeguitarstudio.com SearchAndrew Wasson.com for FREE lesson Handouts. This Video: July 26, 2011 | Search Videos by Title/Date. GO TO: www.andrewwasson.com Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question... Q: I really like a lot of the classic 80's metal and in this style they seem to have riffs and solos that normally repeat a group of notes over & over. Is there any kind of method with this approach of repeating note style licks? And, what exactly is this idea based upon, (scales or arpeggios)? Any help with this topic would be very much appreciated. Thank's for teaching so many great lessons on YouTube! Owen -- Lethbridge, AB. Canada A: Repetitive Licks can be developed through, scales, or arpeggios, they can be combined with other guitar techniques, or even be combinations of all that! The concept with them however, is to really grab the listener's attention through the use of a repeating musical statement played over & over - normally with the same rhythmic feel. These ideas are really versatile and can also be done; in position, or along the neck. And, they're actually not limited to using just one selection of notes either. For instance, they can be done with a group of notes that follow a scale along the neck, they can be harmonized, or even developed around open string pedal tones. Any way ya slice it, these licks are very cool to place into a lead, or a catchy hook of a; rock, blues, jazz, country or many, many other styles of music <b>...</b>

Evolution: Genetic Evidence - Transposons

Evolution: Genetic Evidence - Ubiquitous Proteins Excerpt from The Cassiopeia Project; "Facts of Evolution". The Full series can be found at: www.cassiopeiaproject.com (Transcript of Video Below) There are sections of an organisms genome, called transposons, that have no other function except to insert copies of themselves elsewhere on the genome. And there are many very well known sequences that do this. Two such sequences are SINEs or Short Interspersed Transposable Elements and LINEs or Long Interspersed Transposable Elements. There are about 850000 LINEs and 1500000 SINEs scattered throughout your genome accounting for nearly 30 percent of the entire sequence. While they are useless to the genome and sometimes cause significant damage, they are useful to our investigation since essentially the only way for them to go from one organism to another is through direct DNA duplication and inheritance. Your LINEs, SINEs are given to your children. The parts of your DNA that make up your genes are relatively small sections scattered among the other useful parts of your genome as well as your LINEs and SINEs. Like fingerprints, the patterns recognizable in these non-gene sections are unique to individuals. They are similar in relatives, and less-similar in distant relatives. This is the basis of DNA fingerprinting. And since these sequences are passed down from parent to child, finding the same sequence in the same place in two different organisms is direct evidence that the <b>...</b>

Terry Riley - Repetitive Music Godfather

Calliope Band Organ in 1919 Chevrolet

I built this calliope in 1995 with parts sourced from a music shop and a player piano/band organ company. It's become a regular fixture, playing at many local shows and displays ever since. Operating with the 'O' roll nickelodeon format, the music arrangements work quite well for this application. The auto is a 1919 Chevrolet 490 ("Four-Ninety") Light Delivery, a seven year restoration project done with much help from my pop, who taught me how to 'wrench'.

The Three Stooges Lego Parody

Three years ago, March 1st, 2007 I joined youtube and this was the first video I uploaded! My, how time flies! This is a parody of the three stooges in lego! Moe, Larry and Curly smack each other around with various objects. In April 2007 I won the Scholastic Gold Key for this little video.

Skylight - Mathew Maokh (Original Composition)

Download the song for free here : www.sendspace.com Hello everyone ! I know it's been quite a long time, but here am I , bringing you a new composition called Skylight. I think that this song sounds like Astronauts. With some calm and repetitive melodics at the beginning, before the big distortion boom. And yes, that's why you might feel the song quite repetitive. I was very inspired by post rock to write this song. I would recommend you to listen to (for the ones who don't know them) : Explosions In The Sky, Hammock, The Album Leaf, This Will Destroy You, Mogwai. And yes, just wanted to add this too : I take an immense pleasure to play the two solos on this song. :) Hope you'll like them, as much as the whole song. Love xx ___________________________________________ Guitar : GISBON LES PAUL CUSTOM Tuning : D ___________________________________________ I'm using Cubase SX to record the sound, and EZDrummer to create the drums. The guitar sounds comes from my Toneport UX1, with the Line 6 Pod Farm interface. The random sounds come from Reason 4.

KT Tape: General Elbow Pain

The elbow consists of three bones coming together at a junction, as well as the muscles that serve to flex, extend, and rotate the arm. The elbow also consists of ligaments that hold these bones in place, tendons that attach muscles to bones, cartilage that allows for smooth movement of the bones at their joints, and nerves that provide functionality to the arm. Each of these different parts can become irritated or strained resulting in pain. Most commonly elbow pain occurs due to a condition called tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis. This pain is often the result of overuse and repetitive strain due to the repetitive or blunt bending of the wrist under resistance. Other causes of elbow pain include pinched nerves, inflammation or rupturing of the biceps or triceps tendons, hyperextension, or dislocation. The most common treatments for elbow pain include rest and ice. KT Tape is used to provide support and give relief to associated tendons and ligaments, as well as relax the surrounding muscles. Elbow pain is many times due to inflamed areas, and the therapeutic effects from this KT Tape application are optimal for reducing the inflammation and pain.

Andreas Stahel

The music of Andreas Stahel oscillates between repetitive trance and multicoloured tapestries of sound. The debut CD of the classically-trained flautist Andreas Stahel is at once compact and fascinatingly multi-layered, a work which defies categorisation. Inspired by minimal music and evidently also by folkloric music, Stahel (born 1967) has found a musical language which draws its drive from repetitive patterns and captivates through multicoloured tonality: sometimes it's difficult to believe that this sound-cosmos emanates from a single person. Stahel... doesn't resort to electronic tricks, but has accumulated a number of special techniques by trial and error. These include rhythmical circular breathing, multiple overblows, the intentional use of key noise and the combination of singing with flute playing. Overtone singing, used widely in Buddhism, and the scenic performance elements lend Stahel's performance a ritual, ceremonial element. He himself is also interested in the meditative influence of music... though Stahel doesn't seem esoteric either on- or offstage, rather an artist with a clear sense of direction, driven by curiousity and sincerity.
