For those folks that want the music off, i hope you understand that these are roof mounted cameras, and the wind noise is almost unbearable. Gliding the Logan, Utah ridge
On May 8, seven glider pilots got together to soar around northern Utah and southern Idaho. I made this video in my ASW20B sailplane starting 23 miles north of Logan and flying southbound on the ridge. It gives a good view of what flying the Logan ridge is all about. Pali Puka to Lanihuli - Pali Ridge (GoPro POV)
We started at the Pali Lookout and climbed the rather well traveled trail to the Pali Puka. Joining me was Randy and Francis. We proceeded beyond the Puka and the start of suicide climbs over a razor thin and crumbly ridges. The scariest part was when we reached the "W", a set of 3 notches, while retaining it's razor thin profile, all composed of crumbly rock! On the 3rd notch, we had to descend via a cable that is attached to what is known as "anvil rock", a crumbly mess of "rock" that appears ready to give at any moment (it wiggles when you push it hard)! The final climb to Lanihuli was the slowest climb ever, fighting through tangles of everything all the way to the top. We also got the opportunity to hike with Martyna and Allegra, who just happened to be hiking this same route the same day! They caught up to us just above the Pali Puka Wall. We teamed up and tackled the Lanihuli summit together! These two can really hike! It was a pleasure to hike along side you guys! Once at the summit, we descended the Lanihuli Trail which is no fun at all, considering it's 6 mile (one way) trail! All in all, this hike was the scariest and most difficult hike I've ever done... This is a truly memorable and moving documentary on the social and political problems of Lakota life on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservervation in South Dakota. So many people do not know or understand their way of life. Director Oliver Tuthill shows an un-yielding glance into the Lakota's everyday problems and perseverance in order to survive. He shows the issues factually (such as the mold overtaking their homes, the poverty, and abuse)and lets the viewer see the horrors for themselves. The film is highlighted by insightful interviews by the Lakotas and government officials. After seeing this documentary, one wants to be an activist and try to help make a difference in the hard lives of these remarkable people. This film not only shows the grittiness of their life, but the contrasting richness of their culture, customs, and their will to survive. I would recommend this documentary to anyone who wants to know more about the Lakota way of life as well as be inspired. It comes to no surprise that just like the PSP, the PS Vita launches with this game available. Despite it's nice graphics, HQ sound and classic Ridge Racer controls, the people behind the game didn't do the one thing that this game needed the most-innovation. It's the same style cars, same style tracks and to make it even less interesting, there's not even that many cars and tracks to select! The rumors you may have heard are true. 3 tracks and 5 cars. Supposidly we'll be seeing DLC content but after they do, will there be anyone left playing RR or thinking about playing RR to care? I can't even imagine what was going through their heads when they developed this game. It's pretty but incredibly shallower than the PSP version when that handheld launched. Unless they come out with DLC content fast and at a very cheap price, Ridge Racer for the PS Vita will soon be forgotten and out of the race against Wipeout 2048 and Modnation Racers. Part 1 of 3 (Watch it in HQ) First: This is NO Mash-Up, it was filmed and edited by myself, hence the lacking "professional look". I'm a huge admirer of the movie Koyaanisqatsi (if you dont know it, go and check it out) and had always the dream to produce a similar moody composition of visuals and music. As a fan of Mike Oldfields music in general and Hergest Ridge, Part 1 (1974) in particular, I came up with the idea to support this great piece of music with atmospheric pictures of my favourite holiday destination: The north-sea island Borkum (Germany). I did not try to copy the typical "Quatsi"-Style, just to blend music, pictures and mood in the best way possible. Originally I intended to show this movie to nobody other than myself. It is some kind of personal and dates back to 2003/04. By no means Im a professional film-maker. it was one of my first efforts with Premiere/After Effects, so consider it as some kind of experiment. It breaks my heart to cut it up it three parts, because the flow of music and pictures it is very important to me, but here on YouTube I have no alternative All material was filmed and edited by myself... the credits of the soundtrack go of course to Mike Oldfield...
