Live cover using BOSS RC-30, TC Helicon MP-75 and TC Helicon VoiceLive 2. This is a live video, recorded in one take, of me performing my cover of "I Need Air" -- Magnetic Man (feat. Angela Hunte). The right-hand part of the screen shows the footage from a second camera, run at the same time as the main video. This enables you to see all my footwork when creating the track. The easiest way to describe how I've created this cover is to just list my equipment.. Equipment: BOSS RC-30 Loopstation -- Used to create all the loops, which I play in live as you can see. This has two channels which I switch between using the BOSS FS-6 Dual footswitch. CME UF80 -- This is the MIDI Controller (keyboard if you like) which I use to play in all the sounds. I get these sounds from the Roland XV-5050 synth. Sonar X1 -- The music Software I use (which you can see running on the computer behind me), here I switch between sounds before playing in the loops. TC-Helicon VoiceLive 2 -- This is the vocal processing unit I use in the performance. It allows me to put live harmonies and FX on my vocals when singing and/or looping. A beautiful slängpolska from Småland. (Slängpolskas is predominant in the southern and eastern parts of Sweden.) The range of this slängpolska makes it possible to play on most instruments. I've heard it here and there for many, many years. But I only know it comes from Småland and not who it's after or the village it comes from. If anybody know more about this tune, please, leave a comment with the info! I gave this slängpolska a little bit of a Irish treatment: celtic harp (from my Roland XV-5050) and a tin whistle......... If you're just getting started with music production this video may give you a few ideas as to which way to go. I'm not a software dude. I can't offer any advice on what/where to download anything or what software is compatible to what. I'm all hardware. If you're interested in going that route then i hope you find this somewhat useful. If I could start from scratch and only buy a few pieces of gear this is what I'd buy: MPC of almost any model, Turntable, Dj Mixer. After that.. MPK, Roland XV 5050, and small Mackie mixer. That''s it. As far as recording... I just do what my ears tell me. I use a Roland VS 880EX. I have Ableton Live Intro. Had it since February '10, used it a few times.... still using my 8 track. Stuck in my ways, I guess. Got questions... just holla.

A little tune that was inspired by a movie called Hardware (from 1990, also known as MARK 13). The movie is about a decadent and radioactive future (Lemmy from Motorhead has a fun cameo). A prototype robot have been developed for population control. Creepy movie, but recommended to see at least once. I sampled a little phrase from the movie. All the sounds you hear in the tune are from my Roland XV-3080 (what a workhorse synth!) with onboard reverbs and other effects . I only sold it because I moved to the US. I have the Roland XV-5050 now, but I still miss the workflow of the XV-3080....... This is one of my first tunes with my very first own music production setup back home in Sweden, consisting of one computer, one synth, and one little 4 channel mixer.

Portenta Succumbere Cumbria is a joint musical and artistic collaboration between JeffreyPlaide and ChemicalComedown, both of whom experiment with various forms of electronic music and visual synthesis. The collaborative effort synthesizes musical elements into a unified work and displays these combined forms as a successful union of creative energies. The composition is an ethereal and ambient work combining many synthesized passages with some actual recordings that have been treated to complement the electronic elements. Sources for the various sounds include -- Roland XV-5050, SynFactory 1.15 software synthesizer, Korg R3 synthesizer and sampled sounds of wind chimes and bird songs. The first mix contains a base track by ChemicalComedown and ring-modulated by Jeffrey and effected again to create a double-modulated sequence. Three piano sequences (created by Roland VX-5050) were ring-modulated and added to the composition. An additional ring-modulated sequence was used to conclude the first mix. These string of sequences were mixed down and effected by ChemicalComedown to create a new combination. The second mix includes a Korg R3 ring-modulated sequence created by Jeffrey and effected by ChemicalComedown, the first mix, a SynFactory 1.15 ring-modulated sequence, another atonal sequence using SynFactory 1.15 and actual bird songs sampled by ChemicalComedown and slowed down with applied reverb by Jeffrey. A tune that from the begining was supposed to be for the native american flute, but got a life of its own. Here, me on the electric guitar! I run the guitar thru a couple of Cubase 4 plugins.
