Rubella ballet. Flimed on tour 1983, original Punk band often seen with legendary anarchy band Crass & Poison Girls. Zillah vocalist, & lyricist with rubella ballet brought up in the drab grey of londons tough east end. Decided being a punk at 15 in 1976 wasn't dangerous enough, might as well wear home made punk clothes in day-glo! Never sold out to any major labels, Rubella ballet are an original Anarchy punk DI Y band. Also described as Goths, positive punk, Death rockers etc as we also played with, Faith No More, The Cult, New Model Army, Death Cult, The Mission, Sex Gang Children, Ausgang, the Mob, Blood & Roses. 1979- now thats a lot of gigs. Rubella ballet live as seen, punk. Drummer Sid was also the drummer for Flux of Pink Indians on Neu smell. FALSE PROMISES. Rubella Ballet - Blind Ambition
The band was formed by former Fatal Microbes Pete Fender (Dan Sansom, guitar), Gem Stone (Gemma Sansom, bass) and It (Quentin North, also bass), with vocalists Annie Anxiety and Womble, and drummer Sid Ation (born Sid Truelove, 18 April 1960, Sutton Coldfield, a former chef, later also the drummer with Flux of Pink Indians). Annie, Womble and It were involved only initially, left and were replaced by vocalist Zillah Minx (born Zillah Elaine Ashworth, 31 March 1961, Birkenhead).[1] Fender and Stone were the son and daughter of Poison Girls singer Vi Subversa.[1] The band used Poison Girls equipment to jam and write songs and their first performance was when they took to the stage at a Crass/Poison Girls concert.[1] They had originally been called Rubella Babies.[1] The band's first proper gig was a fundraiser for the Theatre Royal in Stratford, which ended in a riot, and the band played frequently, often asking audience members to put them up after gigs

Money Talks' a political punk anthem composed by Zillah Minx in 1984. Rubella Ballet's first video shot at Balfron tower, Poplar, London's east end in our 24th floor tower block flat and on the roof. Filmed 1984 in Poplar, Canning Town, Isle of dogs & in the Docklands, in six years before Canary Wharf was built. We also did the editing ourselves. One of the first video's to be on the video jukebox machines that were installed in most pubs in the UK in the 80's. Featuring Kara mini minx, appeared on stage with original 1970's punk band rubella ballet as soon as she could walk. She went everywhere with her mother Olga Orbit which meant a lot of gigs, you wish you had been at. Part of the anarchy scene & @ Stonehenge festival age 1, at many Crass, Poison Girls, Dirt, anarchy gigs. Kara is Punk daughter of Punky Pete and Olga Orbit. Olga & Zillah are punk sisters. Olga was also the keyboard player in Youth In Asia. Kara born 1980, walking by 11 months just to get on stage with rubella ballet.Some punks were lucky enough to see her performances live on stage with rubella ballet. Re-Edited with lyrics. Today's name change to the Measles & Rubella Initiative reflects the Initiative's full backing of the new Strategic Plan. Founded as The Measles Initiative in 2001, it's led by the American Red Cross, the United Nations Foundation, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, UNICEF and the World Health Organization. In that time the Initiative has supported 80 countries to deliver more than 1 billion doses of measles vaccine, helped to raise measles vaccination coverage to 85% globally, and reduced measles deaths by 74%. These efforts have contributed significantly to reduction in child mortality as per Millennium Development Goal 4.
