I mess up a little (accidentally leaving the dialogue on absolute instead of relative), but I think it works out anyway... I like the way Classic Sonic feels in Sonic Generations. It's not 1:1 with the Genesis games, and there's still some niggling things about it that are really weird, but I think it's enjoyable. Since some of you asked me to expand on what I didn't like: * I don't like how Sonic cannot accelerate while in mid-air (whatever his speed is when he jumps is the fastest he's allowed to travel in mid-air) * I don't like how freakishly overpowered the spindash is (charge time is too short, the speed gained from a full charge is too fast) * I don't like how S-curve tubes automatically set Sonic's speed to max the moment he enters one (they are meant to function as ways to build momentum naturally, not as scripted boosters) * One particular scripted scene bothers me: Sonic gets launched up in to the air, with a yellow spring on his left and a swinging platform on his right. It's scripted so that you always land on the platform, even though you have enough height to move over to the spring. Pushing left on the stick does nothing, but I should be able to hit that spring from the air without touching the swinging platform. * Rolling has more meaning here than it does in Sonic 4, but it still doesn't function "correctly". Rolling emphasizes slope momentum no matter when it's activated. It should do the same here, but doesn't. * There are slopes that don't seem very steep that Sonic seems to have trouble running up unless he's going full tilt. That doesn't seem right at all... www.learningdslrvideo.com Martin Beek over at Marvels Films asked me to compare some of his new version "3" (actually version 2.3) picture styles, I tried all of them from his zip file in many different lighting conditions. The new Marvel 2.3 flat low contrast works really well for a beginner like me. I think others just getting their feet wet with color correction and grading will also like this one as well. From Martin's blog here is his description of my favorite picture style: Slight "best of both worlds" s-Curve for useful flattening of the picture, without introducing flattening artifacts such as "plastic faces" and other 8-bit color gamma defects. Optimized for low contrast shooting situations (eg indoors, night). Classification: No color correction. Light flattening. Version 2.3 of december 5 2010, by Martin Beek and Bart Keimen, Marvels Film. I have tried some of the other more "advanced" styles like the version 1.2 (classic) or the new Panalog versions and even after tons of work I can't make them look half way decent at all. Perhaps the Panalog is designed for the 5D and not the T2i 550D, maybe that is why I can't get it to work for me.

Ayrton Senna kept many memories from his career. Some of them were material things; like the paper where Frank Williams scraped Senna´s times at his first test in a F1 car, 10 years ago, at Donington. Senna described that victory like this: "Hard rain. I started in 4th, but the 1st lap was a psychology shoot to other drivers. Schumacher made me put two wheels outside track, but I overtook the German before the 1st curve came. Then I went after Damon Hill, and overtook him at the curve's breaking. The next victim would be Prost. I waited by the double S curves but he reduced the speed before the usual, so I went through him. With 18 laps the track was dry and everybody went to boxes to changes to slickers tires. I did not. I put pedal to metal in order to escape from Williams, but I was in a hard situation, because is dangerous to go fast in a wet track with dry tires. But if I went carefully the tires would lose pressure and temperature and the car would lose tack. I also had problems at my 3rd pit stop, where they had problems to change a rear wheel, and it seemed to me a long time. When I wanted to put wet tires the radio did not work, so they did not hear me and I passed through pit without stop. And to increase the suspense, they told me that I had problems with fuel. As my fuel tank leaked and there was no time to repair, it was sealed, what meant that I could not refuel. As the fuel was in the limit, I have changed my way of driving, changing gears at low RPMs <b>...</b>

Dr. Yancy Orchard demonstrates basic Jiulong Baguazhang principles with the Rolling the Pearl posture on location in Dr. John Painter's Gompa and in Saskatoon, SK, near the Xin Fu Gompa. Each of the elements presented in this brief clip demonstrates the versatility of this seemingly simple method. Walk in a circle, cut through the centre with a simple posture change. Apply that posture change to stationary poles, moving poles, props with obstacles, and live partners. Plese take the time to notice the variations presented are the same simple movement, sometimes using the lead arm, sometimes the rear arm, sometimes stepping to the outside of the foe, sometimes to the inside, sometimes lifting up, cutting down, pressing forward, and so forth. The purpoe of the clip is to help current students develop freedom and versatility in their concept of the movement. There are no techniques, per se, demonstrated here. Everything demonstrated grew organically, spontaneously from one movement to another. Master the basics and infinite expression freely manifests. Ball and Wedge On the most basic level the shape of the arms is that of a triangle (or wedge) piercing forward while supported internally with the fullness of an inflated rubber ball. In Jiulong Baguazhang, we use the shape of the wedge to neutralize attacks.
