And that is not as popular and good as the classic Metallica stuff, just so you know: Metallica play Thrash-Metal too:) "Fuel" is the opening song from Metallica's ReLoad album. It stems from the thrill of fast driving and street racing. The song could also be applied to the fact that people like to drive their lives (like their cars) too fast. It is one of James Hetfield's favorite songs as he later said before a concert played at an Oakland Raiders game,"We have to play Fuel...'cause it gets me pumped up." The 1980s alt-rock heroes The Smithereens, who created hits as "A Girl Like You" and "Only A Memory," have a new album and tour to protect their legacy and gain a new audience. NY1's Tara Lynn Wagner filed the following report. The Smithereens are back, although they never really went away. The New Jersey-based 1980s alt-rock group's brand new album, "The Smithereens 2011," is their first collection of all-original material in 12 years. Songwriter and frontman Pat DiNizio says changing times called for a change in strategy. "There wasn't a lot of interest from the labels from an old warhorse band like the Smithereens, who have never stopped doing live dates or making records. But we've realized that we needed a project to reintroduce the band to our audience," he says. The band wrote and rehearsed the new material at Tu Casa Sound Studio in the East Village, in the same room where they bashed out their old hits almost 30 years ago. "We had to bring it back to our roots. We rehearsed and recorded demos for our second album, 'Green Thoughts,' right in this room," says DiNizio. "I think there's a crumpled coffee cup in the corner that I threw away like 23 years ago that's still there." Al Hirt (November 7, 1922 April 27, 1999) was an American trumpeter and bandleader.He is best remembered for his million selling recordings of "Java", and the accompanying album, Honey in the Horn (1963). His nicknames included 'Jumbo' and 'The Round Mound of Sound'. Alois Maxwell Hirt was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of a police officer. At the age of six, he was given his first trumpet, which had been purchased at a local pawnshop.
