The 1922 Authur Moscrop designed and built 85 foot wooden hull Tugboat SS Master is powered by a single Beadmore triple expansion engine, that was one of two originally intended to be outfitted in a Royal Navy Minesweeper that was never completed before the Great War ended in 1918. Shipped to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada as surplus 3 of these engines ended up in tugboats built as almost identical Sisterships to each other, the SS MASTER, the SS RFM and the SS Sea Swell at the shipyard of Aurthur Moscrop's, near the present day site of the Vancouver Aquatic Center at the entrance to False Creek. The engine develops about 350 Horse Power, turning an eight foot diameter prop at about 100 rpm for a cruising speed of @ 8 knots. For more info please visit www.ssmaster.org
