I can't believe this great performance has not yet made it on to YouTube so I thought I'd post it so people can compare and contrast with Flicka's 1980 Paris Performance. (I'm partial to this one, btw.) This is a wonderful production starring Kiri Te Kanawa (Countess), Benjamin Luxon (Count Almaviva), Ileana Cotrubas (Susanna) and Frederica von Stade (Cherubino). From "La Cenerentola" by Rossini, an opera that's at least as good as the well known "Barbiere di Siviglia"(if not better).This one is not a stage production, it's a film directed by Jean-Pierre Ponnelle, and it's really a good one. It is the best "Cenerentola" I have seen until now. The part I've selected shows the moment when Cinderella and prince Ramiro meet the first time. Cinderella is Frederica von Stade, and the prince's part is played by Francisco Araiza. Both very young and charming. The recording is from 1981. Enjoy. If you like it, buy it.

Finally, the most important woman in Rossini's life - mezzo-soprano Isabella Colbran - has an opportunity to enchant us. If we were to choose "a crown jewel" of Barbaja's and Rossini's cast, the choice would be all to obvious: Isabella Colbran. She was one of the first in a line of brilliant dramatic singers that would bless belcanto operas for decades: Pasta, Grisi, de Bengis, Malibran... She appeared in ten Rossini operas, and the love that formed between the primadonna and the maestro is evident in every page of the scores. Except for the rather bland character of Zoraide in "Ricciardo" and, possibly, Zelmira, all roles are incredibly dramatic: Armida and Ermione are anti-heroines, in spite of their tragic situations; Fiorilla is a comic role of unusual proportions; Elcia, Anna, Elena and Desdemona, in spite of being ingenue-like characters, are faced with staggeringly complex situations (indeed, only Elena gets a happy ending, while Anna commits suicide, Elcia's lover is killed before her eyes and Desdemona is killed by Otello); even the less interesting characters of Elisabetta and Semiramide require an unlimited amount of charisma. Although the label "soprano" is often used when describing Colbran's voice, Rossini's music speaks otherwise: she is regularly asked to go down to A flat and even G, while high notes rarely go beyond B; though additions aren't really prohibited, so Colbran roles are essayed by both sopranos and mezzos without any real threat to the music <b>...</b>

Traditionsübung Freiwillige Feuerwehr Stade
Hier sehen wir einen Teil der anfahrenden Kräfte zur Traditionsübung am Donnerstag nach Pfingsten in Stade. Es rückt an vom Zug I der FF Stade: Der ELW 1, der RW 2, die DLAK 23/12 (L32), das LF 16/12/2, das STLF 24/28/2, das LF 16/6 der LKW und das WLF mit AB-Umwelt. Von der Ortsfeuerwehr Hagen rückt an: Ein MTW + Mehrzweckanhänger und das LF 8/6 + Schlauchanhänger. Ein Streifenwagen der Polizei Stade fährt zufällig zu einem anderen Einsatz in die dritte Aufnahme hinein. After a stay in Paris where he studied Western music at the Beaux-Arts Conservatory, played music with Wandama, a group he formed in Dakar in 1985, and the group Daande Lenol (the voice of the people) with Mansour Seck.
