All right guys, things got a bit heated yesterday and people started posting personal details and threatening violence. I've never had to shut down comments before, but I had to do it yesterday. I'm opening up comments again, but keep it sensible please. If it gets stupid again, I'll shut it down for good. Okay guys, this is a very controversial topic. Here's the unedited footage of the Steve Nogas incident. What seems to have happened is that the driver Steve Nogas was told he was disqualified for reason stemming back to his qualifying burnout (disobeying a fire mashal), he forced his car through a group of officials and on to the track, and after the burnout he was escorted from the track and his car towed away. Could have been handled a little better from both sides, but forcing your way on to the track is definitely the wrong way to go. I've posted this video to provide a little clarity to the incident. Okay, so it's not actually day one because Summernats hasn't officially started, but the cars are rolling through the gates in prepartion for tomorrow when things really kick off. Some cool cars were coming through scrutineering this afternoon, and unfortunately I couldn't film them all. But I did manage to catch up with Rob Godfrey and his Summernats & SMOTY winning TOYTON. It's back with a new donk and a few surprises. Sorry about the dark video at the start, I though the new camera would be better than that in low light. Oh well, another lesson learned. This is the begining of all the controversy with Summernats claiming that Steve Nogas did not Qualify for Sundays finals because he did not obey the fire marshalls directions, claiming the fire marshall told Steve not to start the car after it stalled when contact was made with the fence, then claimed to tell Steve to shut the car down once he re-started it. Clearly you can see at 0:48 we hit the wall and at no point did the fire Marshall tell us to shut it down, The Fire Marshall then signaled to the approaching tow vehicle that he wasnt needed at 1:49 and waved us through to exit the pad at 2:02 of the footage. Summernats have since told us we never qualified on friday but at 2:21 you can clearly see the official give steve a qualifying ticket and saying well done mate.

After qualifying for the top five last year Matty Power was looking strong for a big finish at summernats 24, but an engine fire cut things short and he came fifth. This year there were no fires, but there was plenty of smoke as he destroyed several pairs of tyres to finish second overall. Killer stuff.

Big Leroy just loves getting out there and having fun. He doesn't give a stuff for trophies or titles - it's all about the enjoyment. Take this burnout for example. This was on Friday at Summernats, Leroy and several others decided to come out and have a play before Saturday's qualifying session for the Masters. they could have said stuff it, lets save it for when it counts but nope, these guys just love doing what they do. Check out the flames shooting out the back of Leroy's Statesman near the end. Scary, but awesome.

About a month ago I tipped that Donny Elphick would be one to watch in the Liqui Moly Burnout masters and it turns out I was right. Don practically turned that little Windsor V8 inside out as he shredded the bags on his XY Falcon. He cleaned up $15000 for his efforts, money that I'm sure will be well spent.

For people that have never had the opportunity to witness Summernats, it can only be described as the "Woodstock" for the hardcore muscle car community. Being a 4 day event, with close to 90000 fanatic spectators and over 1500 entrants that travel from all over the country, with onsite camping facilities, live bands every night, show cars, cruising, burnouts, the list goes on and resembles much more than simply a cruise, drag meet or even car show. It's a street machine festival to say the least and as celebrity hot rod builder Charlie Hutton says, "There is nothing else like this anywhere in the world!" Jason McIntosh didn't have the best of runs at Summernats 25 with his RACENU Torana. With over 400cubes and a blown/injection set-up, it got the horsepower but I reckon some kind of fueling issues were giving him a headache this year.
