Historic Sandown 2011 Group C and A feature race

Group A/C feature race 15 laps with pit stop.Footage from the 1988 Highway patrol VL Walkinshaw group A Commodore.Driver Troy Kelly. Finished second. The reason i waved David past is because i lost brake pedal pressure on two or three corners and water temp light was coming on i did not want to risk taking myself or David out. This was only the second time i have driven this car as well i was still getting used to it etc. I want to thank all that have helped me get out there and racing without them i could not do it i am glad i could get a result for you at last Les dew, Smokey Smith, Aaron Davies, Mick & Anna Cameron, my wife and daughter, Gary formtech engineering, Andre Ballarat Husqvarna, Mick Ballarat Auto pro. We run this car on a very tight budget usually on 2nd hand tyres etc no one gets paid all the guys chip in and help i cannot thank you enough with a bit of luck with this result we could dig up some more funding and have a good go next year. Thanks again.

Norm Beechey - Neptune Racing Team EH Holden, Sandown hot-lap!

From 1964, here's a hot lap of Sandown with Norm Beechey, in his Neptune Racing Team EH. Lousy quality, but still pretty neat - ever seen an EH driven like this?

Hang Gliding - Dune Gooning, Low Level Flying - Sandown Point, Bulli NSW Australia

A strong NE blowing into Sandown Point Reserve brought out the dune gooners and their three Fun 190s. Coincidentally we all have very similar glider colours. In this clip Trev leads off first and shows his skill, I approach more cautiously being relatively new at flying close to the ground (still finding my wings so to speak). At one stage I practised a new skill of flying close to the water after slipping out of the very tight lift band. When flying over water a parachute would be of no use - maybe floaties on the base bar? But I managed to just squeeze everything from the little bit of lift in the dull air at the base of the small cliff get the kite to the sandy beach and keep my feet dry. Then Alan, with his 39 yrs of flying, and a finely tuned kite showed what dune gooning is all about. Even Champers the Dog thought it was really something to see! Their was only one injury for the day, Alan's elbow/shoulder, from his skateboarding efforts. Which just goes to show how safe hang gliding is, and as any pilot would say, more fun too :-)

Lamborghini Diablo GTR / Stokell win Sandown 500

In 2002 Paul Stokell and Team Lamborghini Australia narrowly missed out on winning the Nations Cup Championship from Jim Richards in his Porsche. Revenge was sweet however when they took out the Sandown 500 at the end of the year narrowly winning by 3sec over Jim Richards in one of the closet 500s ever! This is their story.
