(In)Sanity Break at La Plata Pt. 1, 2/19/11
As you may have noticed, I now have my own vehicle. That said, to escape from the insanity that cluttered my school life, I drove up to La Plata and continued studying and took periodic breaks as the following trains passed by. I even experimented with a shot or two in order to see what I could accomplish inside a car (instead of the family van back home). In this set of clips we see the following zoom by: 1) BNSF Intermodal Train, Eastbound 2) BNSF Double Stack Train, Westbound. I'm commenting about something I try to experiment with later on. 3) UP Double Stack Train, Westbound. As you can hear, Sync hands-free talking works very well in this car, and I was already in the middle of talking when I heard the train approaching. (I also make a "brilliant" discovery about speakerphone, too). 4) BNSF in Warbonnet coloring with a Flatbed Train, Eastbound. (Technically from the south, too, since the line does come from Kansas City). Still on the phone as I don't think it was long between this train and the previous. 5) Didn't take long before the BNSF maintenance hi-rail truck showed up and took its time getting onto the rails. I only knew it was them because I saw them coming from the rear. In the next compilation, you'll see that my view of the crossing proper was blocked, so all I could do was point and wait.
