This is right after an even bigger surge (~11:30am), but this one surprisingly did more damage. Sorry for the annoying lady screaming in my ear, but I guess thats maybe the most interesting part of the video (and lots of comment rage, easy there tigers). "Oh my God Susie!" My heart goes out to all those whose property was damaged, and even more to those who experienced the brunt of this epic force in Japan. Video of the tsunami surge generated by the Feburary 27, 2010 Chilean Earthquake (8.8 mag) hitting the harbor in Santa Cruz, California. There were at least 4 surges over 2 hours - on each surge the water first went out for 15 minutes and the water level dropped 3-4 feet. Then the water would be still for a few minutes, and then a surge would come back in lasting 15 minutes or so. Estimated surge height from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center was 0.5 m for Santa Cruz.
