Released in 2010 on Goner Records. Ty Segall is the solo project of the lead singer of The Epsilons. Melted is his 3rd solo album. This album was kind of neat for a garage rock album. Had many interesting song and sound ideas. Some gelled. Some didn't. Some just fell apart. But you can tell it was all written just for kicks. Why is it called "Melted", you may ask ? I don't know. My best guess is that it sounds like the music was left outside on a hot midsummer's day and when Ty went to go get it, it was a warped and muddled. Would explain all the weird sounds and lo fi production quality (not that any of this is a bad thing). Ty takes your typical garage rock essence, jangly guitar, messy quality, hooting and hollering vocal styles and adds some generous helpings of weirdness. Flute interjections, ramshackle piano, noises, sludgy guitars. It doesn't always work out, but always remains interesting. A few songs disintegrate before they reach their finish line. I feel some of these songs could have been a little more fleshed out or thought out. At points, they seemed a little half assed. As though Ty had some random idea for a guitar tone and had 5 minutes to write a song incorporating it. He might have been just sitting around, hit a bad chord by accident, scribbled some lyrics about having a girlfriend, couldn't think of a way to end the song, so he just sets it on fire while recording it. And I respect that. Anyways, if your a fan of messy, loud music like Mudhoney, or a <b>...</b>
