The man who last week kicked convicted former minister Sukhram returned to slap Sharad Pawar. Harvinder Singh, a resident of Rohini in the capital, slapped the Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in full glare of TV cameras. The miscreant, who even attempted to slash his wrists, was taken into custody immediately. He was citing rising prices as the reason for his anger. Harvinder said, people were fed up with corruption and rising food prices, before being overpowered and hustled away by police. Dressed in a blue striped T-shirt, the turbaned man whipped out a small kirpan (dagger) before he was overpowered. Some private security guards said Singh was shouting "he is corrupt". Singh, who is in his thirties, said things could have been worse but for the observance of Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom day today. "Sab chor hain... cheer doonga (they are all thieves. I will rip them apart)," he shouted as the police dragged him away. He said the common man was fed up with corruption and rising food prices. "I did this.... I'm right," he screamed. "Dikha diya maine (I have shown it). Today is Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom day." ingh said he was also responsible for the assault on Sukhram, whom he had kicked after a court last week sentenced the 86-year-old former telecom minister in a corruption case. Detained after the Saturday attack, Singh had been released later.
