The Army Shinty team is taking on the Irish Defence Force hurling team at Inverness this Saturday. The game at Bught Park is raising money for Poppyscotland and marks the first time the two countries have played against each other. The Gaelic for shinty is Camanachd and the sport has strong links to the Gaelic language and culture.

Kinlochshiel keeper (Graham Kennedy) saves penalty with his head to win Ballie Cup. Unintentional so constitutes as a save and not a foul, although why anyone would want to save a slioter with his head is beyond me! Video from BBC Alba, the BBC's Scottish language service.

A weekend of shinty in St Andrews. I took a wander round, chatting to players and trying to avoid filming anything that might get us in trouble with the Athletic Union. Thanks to everyone who helped, and sorry to those teams I didn't get so much footage of. Deech x

World Business: The Celtic Cross-Code sport of Shinty-Hurling is an unusual hybrid. It has no dedicated leagues or clubs but is played at international level, has a unique rule book, opposing sides use different equipment, and even gives the ladies version of the same game a different name? We took a trip to Dublin to find out more. Reporter: Diana Muriel

THERE was no quarter asked or given when Oban Celtic and local rivals Lochside Rovers met at Mossfield, Oban, in a Marine Harvest South Division Two encounter on Saturday. Celtic came out of the blocks the quicker of the two teams and raced into a two-goal lead within 11 minutes, thanks to strikes from Alan Duffy and Lee Askew. However, Rovers got themselves back into the came when Malcolm Clark pulled a goal back on 29 minutes. The points looked to be going Celtic's way until Clark struck a late equaliser in the 87th minute.
