The Art of One Finger Shooting Zen (一指吐禪) is a powerful technique. It is considered the treasure of our school, Shaolin Wahnam. The uninitiated will not find anything special in this exercise, but those who are initiated can derive remarkable benefits from it. For them, it can generate an energy flow, develop internal force, bring mental clarity, and expand the spirit. There is a saying in Chinese: "If you only train Kung Fu form without training force, you will be futile even if you train you whole life." When my teacher first learned this art, his teacher, Sifu Ho Fatt Nam, said: "Many people say that they learn kung fu, but what they actually learn is just kung fu form. Now you will learn One-Finger Zen and Tiger Claw -- two of the most advanced arts in Shaolin Kung Fu. They are both found in the art of One-Finger Shooting Zen. Continue to practice this art daily even after you have become a master." When Sifu Ho Fatt Nam first learned from his teacher, Sifu Yang Fatt Khun, this art is what he was taught. For three years, he practiced nothing except One-Finger Shooting Zen. He continued to practice this art daily until he passed away in 2001. I once asked my teacher a hypothetical question: "If you could choose only one art to practice for the rest of your life, what would it be?"
