The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrún book trailer

The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrún is a previously unpublished work by JRR Tolkien, written while Tolkien was Professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford during the 1920s and 30s, before he wrote The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It makes available for the first time Tolkiens extensive retelling in English narrative verse of the epic Norse tales of Sigurd the Völsung and The Fall of the Niflungs. It includes an introduction by JRR Tolkien, drawn from one of his own lectures on Norse literature, with commentary and notes on the poems by Christopher Tolkien.

Erland von Koch - Saxophone Concerto (1/2) {SIGURD RASCHER}

Saxophone Concerto 1958 1. Allegro Moderato Sigurd Rascher, saxophone München Philharmoniker - Stig Westerberg Erland von Koch (April 26, 1910 - January 31, 2009) was a Swedish composer. Born in Stockholm as the son of composer Sigurd von Koch (18791919), Erland von Koch studied at the Stockholm Conservatory from 1931 to 1935 and subsequently passed the advanced choirmaster and organist examinations. Between 1936 and 1938, he lived in Germany and France in order to pursue studies in composition with Paul Höffer, conducting with Clemens Krauss, and piano with Claudio Arrau. Later, he took private classes with Tor Mann in Sweden. Teaching at the Karl Wohlfarts Musikschule from 1939 to 1945, von Koch also spent the final two years of this period working as a sound expert and choirmaster for radio broadcasting. From 1953 to 1975, he was lecturer in harmony at the Stockholm Conservatory, where he was appointed a professor in 1968. von Koch became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 1957. He has received numerous other honors and prizes at both national and international levels for his compositions. He has written six symphonies (of which the fifth, Lapponica, is dedicated to the Sami people),[1] twelve Scandinavian Dances, one opera (Pelle Svanslös), and five ballets, as well as music for wind orchestra.

The Paddle ~ Sigurd Olson ~ Listening Point

A recitation in honor of my favorite author from the North Country, Sigurd Olson. These few paragraphs that I recite come from a chapter titled "The Paddle" in his classic book, Listening Point (1958). Why no fiddle this time, why here on YouTube? Because this is the season -- early fall -- when I long to return to the Boundary Waters. It's been so, so many years since I enjoyed those week-to-ten-day wilderness canoeing excursions with family and friends. Long before the Alpine Lake fire of 2005, long before the incredibly damaging windstorm of 1999 (which brought tears when I learned of it), long before I started a career, it's been thirty years since I enjoyed those waters. I can still see so many of the lakes (whose shores and hills are forever changed after the storm): Saganaga, Red Rock, Alpine, Knife, Kekekabic, Eddy, Ogishkemunicie, Agamok, Gabimichigami, Sea Gull. It seems like yesterday... the early-morning bear on Brant Lake, that long portage from Hanson Lake to the South Arm of the Knife, that perfect campsite on Jasper Lake, that bridge over Eddy Falls, we young ones begging the old fellows (without success) that we sneak across the border and head to This Man, That Man, Other Man, and No Man Lakes, and that end-of-the-journey run for ice cold pop and beer as we returned to Bud Darling's place at Trail's End. Someday again. Someday, with my boy.

Sigurd Slåttebrekk: Chasing the Butterfly

Sigurd Slåttebrekk and Tony Harrison were drawn to the artistic quality of Grieg's own playing. This evolved into a historic pioneering project of 'musical archaeology', reviving a performance tradition from over a hundred years ago. They have gone through re-creation and beyond -- with interpretations based as much on how Grieg played as on how he wrote. A sensational new approach to 'original performance practice'! It all started with the work around the recording of the Piano Concerto, where Grainger's recording of the cadenza inspired a different approach to this well known piece. Further influenced by oral traditions like jazz and folk music Slåttebrekk and Harrison have listened in depth to each detail of Grieg's own playing on the famous 1903 acoustic recordings, and tried to imitate the performances at Grieg's piano at Troldhaugen. Let's Play Fire Emblem: Genealogy PT80b - The End of Sigurd's Tale

In this part of the episode, Sigurd and his army begins to march onward to Barhara to greet Alvis for the success of the battle won. Sigurd can't wait to see King Azmur and apologize to him, but, it seems that isn't going to happen... ...as Alvis tricks Sigurd in lining himself up and sentences him to death for treason! Just to add insult to injury, Alvis has Dierdre come out to slap Sigurd in the face mentally. She has no idea who he is anymore...though she seems to start to remember when Alvis forces her back. After that, Alvis and the Velthomer units all attack, causing everyone in Sigurd's party to scatter, while Sigurd dies from the wrath of Falaflame. So ends Chapter 5 as well as the First Generation of Fire Emblem: Genealogy of The Holy War. Don't worry...even though this is looking pretty bleak, there's always a light that will continue to shine... ...in the Second Generation!

Sigurd takes a stroll in Vallenwood

My friend Sigurd takes a stroll through the valley of the river strid and through some of the outskirts of vallenwood, this is part of my river strid mod, which though not yet finished is coming on nicely. This is my third attempt at uploading this video, as the quality of the previous 2 was none too hot. This one is hopefully a bit better. The music is also by me and is entitled "Sunrise over Valenwood." I have avoided electric guitars on this occasion.
