Madinat al-Hareer (Arabic: مدينة الحرير, meaning "City of Silk"), is a proposed 250 square kilometer planned urban area in Subiya, Kuwait, an area just opposite Kuwait City which, upon construction, would include the Burj Mubarak al-Kabir , the world's tallest structure, a natural desert reservation of 2 square kilometres, a duty free area which will be beside a new airport, in addition to a large business center, conference areas, environmental areas, athletic areas, and areas that concentrate on media, health, education, and industry. The City of Silk will also include numerous tourist attractions, hotels, spas, and public gardens. The city will be built in individual phases with total completion within twenty-five years. The development will cost an estimated 25 billion Kuwaiti Dinars (~94 billion USD). Burj Mubarak al-Kabir should not be confused with the Al Jaber Tower proposed by the famous Italian architect Amero Marchetti, part of the planned "ethic city". If built the Al Jaber Tower would reach 1852 meters. As of July 27, 2008, the government of Kuwait has already approved the project, with some of the project's funding coming from the budget surplus over the course of 2007 and 2008. Construction on the actual site has also begun; this is seen through bridges, highways and roads being laid down as basic infrastructure to facilitate future construction of structures within the city. Beginning at Market Street near Lakeview Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey, this is a video I filmed while driving (I wasn't holding the camera and driving). I immediately turn down 22nd Avenue and give you a look at the Alexander Hamilton Homes (aka Alabama Homes), Paterson's largest public housing development that is being readied for demolition in the video and have since been demolished. I then go down Trenton Ave and make my way back to Market Street, traveling west. I drive for a mile or so and make a right on Madison Avenue, a major North-South artery through the city. I go 2 blocks and make a left on Park Ave. I continue for a mile down Park Ave into downtown Paterson until I hit Main Street, where Part 01 ends. Paterson Drive 02 shows you a southward drive down Main Street into the neighborhood of South Paterson near St. Joseph's Hospital.

I take Vreeland to Park Ave., where I make a left. I go for a few blocks and make a right onto E 30th Street. I cross Broadway and stop at 12th Ave.

Starting at West Broadway looking at the Riverview Towers, then driving up to Union Ave, making a left on Union Ave. Then I eventually make a left on Paterson Ave, which I take all the way to Front Street and make a left. I then make a right on Wayne Ave, go over the bridge, the road turns into McBride Ave, then I veer right onto Spruce Street, where I through the historic mill district and make a left onto Oliver St. and then merge right onto Route 19. Up until Wayne Ave, this is Paterson's west side, also known as the Totowa section closer to the Passaic River. The neighborhood around Union Ave is referred to as the Hillcrest section. After crossing the bridge, we enter the Great Falls Historic District, which bring Paterson back to it's roots as the first planned industrial city in the country, dating back to the late 18th century.

On a cold day in February 2010 Colonel Taz, Sandman, the Silk City Kid, Mr. Johnson and Angeryman were rounded up by one Anders Graver, film maker and disciplinarian of men. Along with his trusty henchman Anders Thormann, they corralled the lot in an attempt to test their faith and endurance. First came the long walk in silence as if to their death. They walked along the the desolate stretch of track known as the free harbor. Disenchanting thoughts clouded their minds? Would this be their last breath of fresh air , had the time come when all their past sinning were now in need of a reckoning?. What was it that was wanted of them? It was there amongst the calamity of urban decay in the wretched shadow of industrial blight they pleaded with their capture to spare their lives? The following is a testimonial to their resilience.

SRME. Silk Road Map Evolution is a project conceived from the desire to re-establish and rebuild the current Silk Road line through a social, economic, political and architectural rehabilitation of the old Silk Road line. The New Silk Road line becomes a driving force for the economy of small urban realities. It is a new idea of urban sprawl (linear) where the bigger city helps the small cities. It is a project that strongly integrates architecture and infrastructures through a new gravity main railway line following the current Silk Road line that runs from Venice to Xi'an trough several countries extending its "arms" through an infrastructure network, commercial services and new housing aiding luckless economic realities. The 15000 km of the Silk Road Line will be interrupted by several bionic towers constituting the new conurbation's core, while new cities composed like routes will run from the main branch (the main Silk Road line) hooking small disadvantaged and far cities. This system will work like a pump flowing the new Silk Road line economic lifeblood to the small disadvantaged cities of the world. Silk Road Map Evolution is a global city for the future based on the idea of designing a set of highly differentiated sustainable and habitable towers. Silk Road Project: Introducing Silk Road Connect
On 2/25/09, the Silk Road Project introduced teachers from New York City schools to a multi-year, multidisciplinary initiative, Silk Road Connect. This 2009-2010 pilot program explores the world through Indigo, a chemically unique dye with a rich history—a journey from Egypt's mummies to today's blue jeans. Presenters include cellist and Silk Road Project Artistic Director Yo-Yo Ma, Chancellor of New York City Public Schools Joel Klein, Royal Geographical Society Fellow and indigo expert Jenny Balfour-Paul, and Silk Road Ensemble storyteller Ben Haggarty. Interspersed with footage of the workshop are comments from leading educational thinkers Warren Simmons, director of the Annenberg Institute for School Reform, and Dudley Herschbach, Nobel-winning professor of science at Harvard University.
