Amazing Child Singers - video four
This is the fourth of several videos I'm making with clips, sounds and pictures of some of my favourite young singers. The clips in this one are: 1. Danielle White - Colours of The Wind (age 11). Danielle sang this when she was a finalist on American Juniors. She sang it beautifully with such feeling and calmness it makes me smile. No wonder she made it into the final group. 2. Jackson 5 - Who's Loving You (Michael age 11). Wow. I'm telling you: wow, wow, wow. It's Michael Jackson. Need I say more? This is the most talented child star there's ever been and ever will be. They sang this at the Ed Sullivan Show. 3. Billy Gilman - Oklahoma (age 12). Billy was 12 years old when he sang this song and made this music video. His voice has such pureness and it's so beautiful. I love him singing this song, it makes me both cry and smile because he's got such a nice voice and the song is beautiful. 4. Jamia Simone Nash - A Tisket A Tasket (age 7). She was only 7 years old when she was on the Nickelodeon show "Romeo!" and sang this, but wow, can that little girl sing! She's really impressive, both as a singer and an actress. 5. Declan Galbraith - I'll Be There & Angels (age 10). "I'll Be There" is from rehearsal and "Angels" is from the performance when he was performing at the huge 2002 Young Voices concert. I don't know what else to say except: Aahh! Amazing Child Singers - video two
This is the second of several videos I'm making with clips, sounds and pictures of some of my favourite young singers. The clips in this one are: 1. AJ Melendez - Still (age 12). One of his great performances on American Juniors and I must say his most powerful one. No one knew he had such power in his voice until this performance! It still confuses me that he didn't make it into the final group. 2. Lucy Hale - Make it Easy on Yourself (age 13). She - like AJ - was one of the finalists on American Juniors and she did make it into the group. This performance sure shows why. 3. Morgan Burke - Somewhere Over The Rainbow (age 10). His first huge performance when he was only 10 years old. He performed at Showtime at The Apollo and the crowd loved him. And with that voice and cute looks, who wouldn't? 4. Katelyn Tarver - Ain't No Mountain High Enough (age 13). She did not have the best voice of the ten American Juniors finalists, but this performance was really great and it truly showed that she still does have a really good voice. 5. Danielle Freid - I Must Believe (age 9). Danielle was the lead in a musical and her vocals are really impressive. She was only 9 years old, but both her singing and her acting was fantastic! 6. AJ Melendez - The Night Has A Thousand Eyes (age 12). Another terrific American Juniors performance. I love this one. The Staple Singers were an American gospel, soul, and R&B singing group. Roebuck "Pops" Staples (1914-2000), the patriarch of the family, formed the group with his children Cleotha (b. 1934), Pervis (b. 1935), Yvonne (b. 1936), and Mavis (b. 1939). They are best known for their 1970s hits "I'll Take You There", "Respect Yourself", and "Let's Do It Again". The family began appearing in Chicago-area churches in 1948, and signed their first professional contract in 1952. During their early career they recorded in an acoustic gospel-folk style with various labels: United Records, Vee-Jay Records, Checker Records, Riverside Records, and then Epic Records in 1965. While the family surname is "Staples", the group used the singular form for its name, resulting in the group's name being "The Staple Singers". It was on Epic that the Staple Singers began moving into mainstream pop markets, with "Why (Am I Treated So Bad)" and "For What It's Worth" (Stephen Stills) in 1967. In 1968, the Staple Singers signed to Stax Records and released two albums with Steve Cropper and Booker T & the MG's — Soul Folk in Action and We'll Get Over. By 1970, Al Bell had become producer, and with Engineer Terry Manning, the family began recording at the famed Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, and Memphis' Ardent Studios, moving in a more funk and soul direction.
