The video is one out of a series of study aids for students studying the topic ITI597 with Charles Sturt University. The Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) was an American self-styled militant group active between 1973 and 1975 that considered itself a revolutionary vanguard army. The group committed bank robberies, two murders and other acts of violence. The SLA became internationally notorious for kidnapping media heiress Patty Hearst, abducting the 19-year-old as she and her 26-year-old boyfriend, Steven Weed, sat relaxing in their Berkeley, California home. National interest grew into worldwide fascination when Hearst, in audiotaped messages delivered to (and broadcast by) regional news media, denounced her parents and announced she had joined the SLA She was subsequently observed participating in their illegal activities. Hearst later alleged that she had been held in close confinement, and brainwashed. On May 17,1974, Los Angeles police surrounded a house where most SLA members were holed up. A massive shootout ensued, and the building went up in flames -- shown live on television. Ma Antonietta è davvero guarita? Lei è raggiante: «Da quando sono tornata a casa dopo il viaggio a Lourdes cammino normalmente, faccio la spesa, sbrigo le mie faccende domestiche. Presidio permanente dalla mattina di martedì 16 novembre, di una delegazione dei malati di Sla (Sclerosi laterale amiotròfica), davanti al ministero dell'Economia, dove da oltre due anni è sepolta la pratica della revisione dei Lea (livelli essenziali di assistenza). Già il 21 giugno scorso, durante una manifestazione analoga, il sottosegretario alla PCM, Gianni Letta, promise una rapida risoluzione per un dramma che coinvolge cinquemila famiglie in Italia. Sla vuol dire: aver bisogno di assitenza totale 24 ore su 24. Queste le richieste al governo: 1. Copertura finanziaria ed approvazione dei Lea; 2. Finanziamento di 100 milioni di euro per il percorso assistenziale proposto dalla Consulta ministeriale delle malattie neuromuscolari (riservato al sostegno alle famiglie per la formazione e l'assunzione di assistenti familiari), le Regioni dovranno contribuire con una pari quota; 3. Finanziamento di 10 milioni di euro per la ricerca di base e clinica da effettuarsi in 10 centri universitari italiani con metodologie ed obiettivi condivisi e sinergici. In serata sono stati ricevuti al ministero dell'Economia una delegazione dell'associazione Viva la vita Onlus, che poi riferiscono: "Il ministero si è impegnato a presentare un emendamento alla legge di stabilità, così da poter stanziare 100 milioni di euro a favore di queste famiglie". Adelchi è un insegnante di Educazione Artistica affetto da Sclerosi Laterale Amiotrofica - SLA. La SLA è una malattia terribile che ti costringe a stare a letto "attaccato" alle macchine. Adelchi è immobile nel letto, riesce a muovere solo gli occhi. Ma la sua mente è lucida. Ha bisogno di un "comunicatore", computer utile a tutti coloro che sono affetti da questo stesso male. Un apparecchio in grado di percepire il movimento degli occhi che scorrono su di un monitor sul quale appaiono delle lettere. Il computer è in grado di ordinare le lettere e di costruire la frase letta dal malato. Il comunicatore ha un costo elevato, circa 15/20.000 euro.
