Four sisters: Kim Sledge (born 21 August 1957), Debbie Sledge (born 9 July 1954), Joni Sledge (born 13 September 1956), and Kathy Sledge (born 6 January 1959). Best known for their work with Chic in the late '70s, Sister Sledge reached the height of their popularity during the disco era but had been recording since the early '70s and were still active in the late '90s. The group was formed in Philadelphia in 1971, when the sisters' ages ranged from 12 to 16, and they recorded their first single, "Time Will Tell," for the Philly-based Money Back label. (For the first few years, the group called itself Sisters Sledge.) In 1972, Sister Sledge signed with Atco and recorded its second single, "Weatherman," which was followed by the Jackson 5-like "Mama Never Told Me" in 1973. It wasn't until 1979, when Chic leaders Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards produced We Are Family, that Sister Sledge really exploded commercially. "He's the Greatest Dancer" and We Are Family's title song both soared to number one on the R&B charts.

Testing rifles and pistols, the Sledgehammer Drill that I came up with has served TNP well. In "Inception Sledge" we run the shortened version of this course for the first time. Gone is the 75 yard sprint to 200 yard shooting...at least for now! The rest of the course is about the same: engaging 115 yard steel plates x2, 35 yard head shots on the paper bad guy (harder than you might think), and the whole thing kicking off with 3 stages of pistol shooting. But while it's important, we're not just about shooting while we do the work out here. We'll talk about the best buffet around (at least in Utah!), my wore out gloves and tears in the pants, the gear choices, ergonomic factors on the the guns, and why I just can't seem to connect well at 200 yds with the excellent Rock River PDS carbine. The PFIs kind of slam the Sig P250 .45 ACP but I remain unphazed and will show them how it's supposed to be run in later parts. I can't help it if they suck with that trigger! In Part 2 I field the complaints on the Sig P250. The PFIs don't like its trigger. I'm actually not a big fan of DAO either but I've learned how to stage them for accurate shooting. Without that skillset, you probably won't like it either (and we discuss the details of that). But in my testing the Sig P250 has proven itself light, accurate, reliable, and affordable (this was its third outing). Somewhere along the way PFIDude pitches the P250 in the dirt, providing more hilarity to me (snap up!). And returning from a trip back to CZ-USA for service, the CZ P07 .40 enters the fray as well. It still fails to go into battery once with PFIDude but it's fast and accurate with a great trigger and all the shooters like it. Lots of AR-15 shooting and joking around continues as well. The TNP Rock River Arms "Elite Operator2" (whose name continues to confuse me) excels in all phases, once again confirming to me nothing is broke about a DI AR-15. It might be the best run ever in the Sledgehammer tactical shooting course. The carbine is the Rock River Arms Elite Operator2 paired with a Sig 1911 Nitron Rail. It goes cleanly and I connect with a record 10 out of 10 times at 200 yards after a short run. With only 1 miss on the pistol stage, it's an A+ run. I find both guns pure pleasure to shoot and the hits come almost magically to me with the RRA AR-15. It has a perfect trigger, great reliability, and outstanding accuracy. Outfitted with the Burris Fullfield II 3x9 tactical scope, it's ready for this course. The Sig 1911, back from service from Sig runs well too (but still has one failure to go into battery after a HARD mag insertion). Also into the mix comes the mostly good CZ P-07 .40, shot by myself and the PFIs. We like it and find the trigger and accuracy excellent. It too has experienced failures to go into battery with certain ammo. Maybe something hotter would prevent that. But it's light and fast into action. A highlight of Part 3 will be PFIDad's and my testing of the new Tapco Gen 2 magazines. I get the NRA Mini-14 hot as we send hundreds of rounds downrange in this testing. It passes with excellence. We had grounded PFIDude due to his asthma acting up but I get him back into action with the Operator2 as well and he slams the Evil Roy targets with it. And the modified Level 1 and 2 Saiga-12s also make it back in front of the camera and PFI function tests them for a special customer <b>...</b>
