Small Town America

This is a clip about a small town in South Mississippi called Shubuta, which is located approximately 100 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico, and was bypassed with a new four lane highway leaving it virtually abandoned by the passing traffic. This clip also features the larger of two "hanging bridges" located there. Local legend and historians claim there were hangings performed here as recent as the 1940's. Go here www.flickr.com for additional pictures of this bridge and others.

Barack Obama's small town guns and religion comments

Vist www.potus08blog.com for the latest election news. Barack's comments that are generating all of the controversy "You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," Obama said. "And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Death of Small Town America

This is my short video documenting (a little over dramatized) the life cycle of small towns across the country and in particular a small town in Middle Tennessee. This video is nothing more than my feeble attempt at gaining some knowledge of how to take a thought or idea and translate it to video. This is solely a hobby of mine that I enjoy. Music is from the Lord of the Rings Soundtrack for disclaimer purposes.

Jon Stewart To Sarah Palin - F * ck You

Jon Stewart recently spoke in Boston on Palin's comments about the "pro-America" parts of the country. "She said that small towns, that's the part of the country she really likes going to because that's the pro-America part of the country. You know, I just want to say to her, just very quickly: [expletive] you," Stewart said to raucous applause. Palin addressed a North Carolina fund-raiser Thursday night saying, "We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, DC We believe...that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation." The comment was quickly picked up by media outlets and the Obama campaign, whose spokesman Bill Burton asked in an e-mail to reporters, "What part of the country isn't pro-America?" ... "I can't take it anymore...After eight years of this divisiveness, we're back to this idea that only small-town America is the real America," he said.

HomeComing Parade of Page, AZ, High School

In the dwindling small town of PAGE , Arizona, Coconino County. The local H. School "Sand Devils" have a two block Homecoming Parade before their Football game and Dance. This is typical SouthWestern Small Town America where the Indian Naitives join forces with the Pale faces to vanquish another football team. But first they have to "parade" their Princesses, and each class has its float. Local Police shut down part of the main drag, for 15 minutes, and then its over, like a dessert rainstorm ... gone as quick as it started. This town is shrinking in Population, heavily dependant on the European Tourists of 2-3 million visitors mostlly between May 1 and Sept. 15th, each year. Without the tourist this town would all but die. Once Upon a time, The Clinton administration officials suggested letting the water flow free, and emptying the Lake. which would have killed this town for the sake of changing fish species in the Colorado River. Recession hits American small towns

www.russiatoday.com Recession hits American small towns 04 March, 2009, 16:38 During times of an economic crisis, big cities have it hard. However, for some smaller towns the situation looks bleaker. The people of Holyoke, Massachusetts, are struggling not to lose their last hope. In the good old days Holyoke used to be one of the most beautiful and successful cities in the United States. Now Holyoke has turned into one of the poorest cities in Massachusetts with half the children living below the poverty line. Ted Prajzner has lived in Holyoke his whole life, and has been working in a fast food joint for years. The food here is still cheap, but lately many of the regular customers simply cant afford to eat here as often as they used to. Read more "Therere no jobs here right now, he said. You look at the paper on a Sunday, and there used to be three pages of classifieds with jobs. And you are lucky if you have half a page right now." In the last few years, there have been some attempts to bring jobs back into town, but then the US economy took a serious turn for the worse. Now, more and more people have nothing left but to rely on welfare.

The Crazies Trailer HD

The Crazies Trailer HD Sahara director Breck Eisner teams with screenwriters Ray Wright (Pulse) and Scott Kosar (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) to give George A. Romero's underrated 1973 shocker a shiny new makeover in this update starring Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell. Perform a Google search on "small-town America," and eventually you'll stumble across Ogden Marsh, a picturesque hamlet situated a safe distance from the nearest big city, and full of friendly faces. The citizens of Ogden Marsh are happy, albeit unremarkable people, but they're about to discover just how fragile their warm slice of the American Dream really is. When a mysterious toxin transforms the locals into murderous maniacs, it's up to Sheriff David Dutton (Olyphant) to find out why a man who was once an upstanding citizen would attempt to massacre the local youth baseball team, and a caring father would burn his beloved family alive. Within days the town has descended into total chaos, and the government has ordered it quarantined. Anyone who attempts to escape will be shot on sight, whether they're infected or not. Realizing that their only hope for survival is to fight through the madness that has consumed their once-quiet town, Sheriff Dutton, his pregnant wife, Judy (Mitchell), his deputy Russell (Joe Anderson), and frightened medical center assistant Becca (Danielle Panabaker) wage an epic struggle to discover the source of this malevolent scourge while fending off their infected friends and ...

Walking Down Main Street USA - Magic Kingdom Orlando, Florida

Walking down Main Street at Magic Kingdom in Florida WDW. Instead of being a replica of a small Midwestern American town, Main Street at Magic Kingdom features some stylistic influences from around the country. Taking its inspiration from New England to Missouri, this design is most noticeable in the four corners area in the middle of Main Street, where each of the four corner buildings represents a different architectural style. There is also no Opera House on Magic Kingdom's Main Street as there is at Disneyland; instead, there is the Town Square Theater. Main Street is lined with shops selling merchandise and food. The decor is early-20th century small-town America, inspired by Walt Disney's childhood and the film Lady and the Tramp. City Hall contains the Guest Relations lobby, where cast members provide information and assistance. A working barber shop gives haircuts for a fee. The Emporium carries a wide variety of Disney souvenirs such as plush toys, collectible pins and Mickey-ear hats. Tony's Town Square and the Plaza Restaurant are table service restaurants. Casey's Corner is at the end of Main Street and sells traditional American ballpark fare including hot dogs and fries. The Main Street Confectionary sells sweets priced by their weight, such as candied apples, crisped rice treats, chocolates, cookies and fudge. Most windows on Main Street bear the name of people who were influential at Walt Disney World or other Disney parks. An example of a classic Main ...
