A showreel of some of my sound design work and details on how the sound design was created. All work has involved a substantial amount of Foley, SFX creation, ADR, editing and mixing in Pro Tools, Logic, Soundhack, and Amadeus Pro. The showreel includes 4 animations, 1 short and the trailer for a feature film. 1) Train of Thought - A stop motion animation created with paper. The sound creation for this involved extensive foley work as the directors wanted the paper sounds to be part of the sonic environment but not overpower the realistic sounds in the mix. The train SFX were recordings I made of a local steam railway over a series of recording sessions using a Sennheiser ME66 and my Zoom H4n. All the sound was mixed in Pro Tools. The film recently won Best Experimental Animation at the Animex awards. I was also Shortlisted at the British Animation Awards for Best Sound Design where it is also nominated in the Public Choice Award, more info here www.britishanimationawards.com More information on how the film was made can be found at www.leobridlefilms.co.uk Go to www.leobridlefilms.co.uk for the glorious film in full. I've been working on a lot of projects lately and managed to get this one in. I've been expanding my abilities in the art of sound design and I feel it's time for some criticism. Below is a link to a video comparing the original Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla with my new rendition of it. Watch it, comment, rate, let me know not only what you think of my design, but if the experience of the scene felt more real or not; better or worse; etc.

Q (as in cue) is a virtual instrument powered by the Native Instruments Kontakt Player which can be loaded into almost any software package including Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton and many more. Q contains almost two thousand patches and 16GB of sample material including cinematically thunderous drums, percussion, winds, vocals, ethnic instruments, metallic textures, glass, guitar, toy, ambient atmospheres, synth landscapes, and trailer-ready effects. The library includes both playable melodic pitched instruments and multisampled one-shot percussion and effects. In the garden of my house there's a tree with lots of randomly grown twigs. It looks odd and nice at the same time. One day I asked myself if I could create a piece of music with it. To tune the tree I picked a fundamental note and tuned the twigs by trimming them with a pencil sharpener. I used two Røde NT6 and a NTG-2 as microphones, combined with a customized stethoscope. I recorded the tracks live on a Pro Tools LE system. I didn't use any synthesizer or sampler to create or modify the sounds. All the sounds come from playing the tree, by bowing the twigs, shaking the leaves, playing rhythms on the cortex and so on. At this link you can see some pictures with more detailed descriptions: behance.net/Gallery/Music-from-a-Tree/263872 I hope you'll like it. The track is also available as an high-quality download on my Bandcamp page: diegostocco.bandcamp.com/track/music-from-a-tree

Almost everyday, on my way to a local bakery, I walk in front of a dry cleaners. When they have the front door open, I hear a lot of interesting sounds coming from their work equipment. Eventually, the different mechanical and steam sounds sparked something in my mind, so one day I asked the owners if I could record a piece of music by using their machines as musical instruments. I used a puff iron, press and dry cleaning machines, a washer, clothes hangers, and a bucket full of soap. The bass and lead sounds were created from the buzzing tones coming from the conduits and engines. There are no additional sounds from any traditional or electronic instruments. Enjoy! www.camelaudio.com Luftrum: Ambient is a journey between worlds, from summer afternoons to the icy depths of space. With dense washes of warm, shimmering pads and soundscapes, gentle guitar and piano arpeggios, music boxes, delicate, and ethereal sound effects that totter between beauty and despair, this is a particularly inspiring collection for the ambient musician, film, TV or game soundtrack composer. Its darker elements include chilling machine sounds, disturbing alien atmospheres, the voices of haunted children, water droplets, plus a sprinkling of the avant-garde. Luftrum is a respected sound designer and electronic experimentalist, known for his Ambient ReFills and atmospheric field recordings. This library incorporates a 127 MB sample library full of fascinating details covering interior and exterior atmospheres, rural ambiences, creatures at rest, and synth soundscapes.

DetriMEMNTAL is a shotgun shooter video incorporating stunt falls and elements of Parkour. Originally conceptualized by Jesse La Flair (Actor and Stunts) from www.youtube.com and brought to life by Andrew Fraczak (Video) www.youtube.com and Jason Minardi (Sound) www.youtube.com The production of this project was decided upon on the spot and improvised in a few hours on Christmas night. After filming was complete, Andrew Fraczak professional compositor took the video and added the SFX. Once the special effects were added we knew we had something cool. But it wasn't until Jason Minardi a professional sound designer and producer signed on that this project reached its full potential. In 5 days this 3 part collaboration was completed! Mark Lampert, Skyrim's Sound Designer and Audio Director, talks about working with Jeremy Soule on the composition of the theme for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Song name & chronological version in description and response. A new trailer for zombie survival video game, Dead Island. Developed by Techland and published by Deep Silver. It is an open-ended game, centered on the challenge of survival on a zombie-infested island. The game uses a first-person perspective with RPG elements. However, the developers are claiming that the game will be far beyond a typical first-person shooter experience, mainly due to a bigger emphasis on melee combat, role-playing elements and a clear focus on story-telling. Gameplay will feature a sandbox style gameplay on a tropical island. A zombie style story are massively influenced by George A Romero's movies, melee combat involving the ability to pick up almost anything and use it as a weapon, and will have multiple playable characters. Multiplayer will include 4 Player drop in/out Co-Op. It will be released for PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3. I'm on facebook now!! :) www.facebook.com And don't forget to add my Twitter! :) www.twitter.com The music for this video was composed by my friend Elton Luz. You can contact him at his website down below, he also did the sound design. www.eltonluz.com He also did the music for my fire knife dance video in which you can see right below. http Film was made by Devin Graham For the filming of this video my friend Jace LeRoy was a huge part of it. He spent the day filming it with me, running his camera (Canon T3i). This video would not have happened if it wasn't for my friends Danielle Jensen and Tyce Jensen. They are the original creators of the modified trikes that were rode in the video. They even had a speedometer attached to the bikes they were riding, and they clocked in going 55mph down the road we filmed at, passing cars in the process. We shot this in a place called Powder Mountain Utah. As far as the sound design for this video, we actually didn't use a SINGLE piece of audio from the actual day of filming. For all the bike sounds and shoe noises, we recorded those the next day in a parking lot. I had my friends Scott Clarke and Ryan Faulkner help me record the audio for it. We recorded the sounds by getting a broken bike and throwing that against the cement for bike crash sounds. We then towed me behind a truck with my feet dragging against the cement to capture the same noises that were made the day of filming with the shoes skidding against the concrete.
