We like to make our own chub rigs by using 2 treble hooks, a sliding egg weight, a split shot weight, and a length of line about 2 feet long with at least 30 lb test. You can make this chub rig by tieing the two treble hooks on the end of the line about 4 to 6 inches apart. Fasten the split shot on the 30 pound test line about 8 to 10 inches above the last treble hook. Slide the sliding egg weight on the 30 pound line so it stops at the split shot. Tie the 30 pound line to the string on your pole. This set up lets you cast the chub a good distance because of the weight. When the pike grabs the chub and takes off he does not immediately get poked by the hook or feel the drag of the weight because it is sliding. Do to the large side of the chubs it is best to let the pike take the bait for a little ways before you set he hook. Caution, make sure to have you drag set loose or have your bail open. We have lost poles to big pike because the bail flipped shut and they dragged the pole into the water. In the shallows we had luck with lures and minnows. The pike like to cruse the shore lines looking for any smaller bait fish. We mimicked these smaller bait fish with top water lures and minnows. Last night I was going through my tackle box trying to get it a little better organized. One issue is that I have different types of hooks and weights or the different types of fishing that I do. Most of my fishing revolves around 3 different types - perch, bass and catfish. Each has its own different type of hook, weight and bait. For perch I use split weight and small hooks. To organize my tackle box for perch fishing gear, I bought a small double sided container. On one side of the container goes hooks, on the other side goes split weights. For bass fishing I use artificial bait, like worms and lizards. A bottom section of my tackle box is dedicated to artificial worms, on top of the worm is a small double sided container like what I keep the perch fishing stuff in. In this container hooks go on one side and weights go on the other side. Unlike the round split weights for perch fishing, the weights used for bass fishing are oblong split weights used for making a texas rig so the bait does not get hung up in the weeds. For catfishing I use a little bit larger hooks and some teardrop weights.

I started with a black screen, then used the picture-in-picture to add the first part of the song. I exported the video, re-added it to iMovie as an event, then repeated for the other three parts. About 2.5 inches long which can be split shotted, drop shotted or jigged for trout and crappie. The technique used in this video is called jigging on either a 1 ounce or 1/16 ounce jighead. Trim off half inch of the worm right above the vein of the trout worm and thread on your jighead so the worm and jighead are completely straight. This will give it a real nice erratic action that will drive the fish crazy. Toss out there, let it sink near the bottom, however dont let the jig physically hit the bottom or you will often get stuck on the bottom. Bounce your rod tip up and down slowly and reel in just fast enough to keep all the slack out of the line. You want to be using an ultra light fishing pole so your able to feel everything your plastic worm is doing under the water. A bite will feel like your stuck on the bottom, and when this happens, reel down hard untill theres lots of pressure and set the hook! Make sure to watch your line, as many times the fish will hit the jig and run sideways really fast before letting go. As you watch your line, focus in on the part of your line hitting the water . You will see your lines dimple going up and down vertically as your jigging vertically. If you see this water dimple shoot left, right, or in an awkward direct, reel down and set the hook!
