DUEL (1971) -Definitive Spielberg #1 - Hagfilms Honest Reviews

Duel The 1970's, a decade of cinematic revolution. An army of young filmmakers stormed the decaying studios to liberate the cinema from the clasp of extravagant and over budget period epics and speak out to a generation of young audience, who never usually got a mention at the cinema. Names like Francis Ford Coppolla, Martin Scorsese, John Millius, George Lucas fought to produce films throughout the decade that would speak to the unsung members of the American people, a nation of anti-war, anti-establishment, demonstrators and free love enthusiast, the remnants of the swinging sixties. They wanted gritty movies that reflected their anger and grief with the Vietnam war, their distrust of the government after Nixon and Watergate. Movies like Bonnie and Clyde, Easy Rider, Taxi Driver, that could be made on a shoe string budget and generate millions in revenue. However, unknown to the studios themselves, there was a lone soldier within their city walls, their own twenty something scruff, a filmmaker with a little more love and respect for the old system. Steven Spielberg had waltzed right in, and through his work on various television programmes, such as Columbo, he'd managed to secure himself a deal to direct a number of TV movies for Universal. Whether he knew it or not, he was going to revolutionise the studios from the inside. His first feature was Duel, based on a short story by writer Richard Matheson, who also wrote the screenplay. It was story with one main character ...

JOHN WILLIAMS remembers Raymond Scott

This rough footage was shot by me, Jeff E. Winner, while Stan Warnow (Raymond Scott's son) and I interviewed movie music maestro John Williams. Stan used a professional camera, and some of Stan's footage appears in the new feature-length, award-winning documentary film, "DECONSTRUCTING DAD" (ScottDoc.com), but this segment has never been seen before. We conducted this interview at Tanglewood, in Massachusetts, on August 4th of 2008. From Wiki John Williams was born on February 8, 1932 in Long Island, New York, the son of Esther and John Williams, Sr. His father was a jazz percussionist who played with the Raymond Scott Quintette. John Towner Williams is an American composer, conductor, and pianist. In a career spanning almost six decades, he has composed some of the most recognizable film scores in the history of motion pictures, including the "Star Wars" saga, "Jaws," "Superman," the "Indiana Jones" films, "ET the Extra-Terrestrial," "Hook," "Jurassic Park," "Schindler's List," "Home Alone" and the first three "Harry Potter" films. He has had a long association with director Steven Spielberg, composing the music for all but two of Spielberg's major feature films. Other notable works by Williams include theme music for four Olympic Games, "NBC Sunday Night Football," the "NBC Nightly News," the rededication of the Statue of Liberty, the "DreamWorks Pictures" production logo, and the television series "Lost in Space." Williams has also composed numerous classical concerti ...

Around 1976, he got into BMX biking by racing his brother's bike out behind a bike shop in San Diego. After moving to Stockton, California as a result of his parents' divorce, Bob really got started racing and riding for a sponsor for Molina's Bike Shop. He was the first in that town to perform many of the common tricks. Smokey Robinson - What's So Good About Goodbye.wmv

Date of Birth 19 February 1940, Detroit, Michigan, USA Birth Name William Robinson Jr. Height 5' 10½" (1.79 m) Mini Biography Multi-talented performer/writer/producer Smokey Robinson's career, and life, is inextricably tied up with Motown Records' founder Berry Gordy (his first two children are named Tamla, for the Gordy-owned label Smokey recorded for, and Berry, for Gordy himself). He and Gordy have had a professional and personal relationship since the late 1950s, when Robinson went to work for Gordy's budding musical empire not only as a performer with his group, The Miracles, but also as a songwriter/producer. Robinson and The Miracles began turning out an almost unbroken string of hits in the early 1960s on Gordy's Tamla label (although they had minor hits on a few labels before they signed with Gordy). Robinson's high, warm tenor was perfect for the romantic ballads that he wrote for the group (one of the music industry's most prolific songwriters, Robinson was also such an imaginative one that Bob Dylan once called him "America's greatest living poet"), although they could also do hard, driving dance records (ie, "Mickey's Monkey"). In addition to his writing/performing/producing chores for The Miracles, Robinson also turned out hit after hit for other Motown acts: Mary Wells ("My Guy"), The Temptations ("My Girl"), and others for The Marvelettesand Marvin Gaye. He left The Miracles to go solo in 1972, and met with even more success, turning out hit record after ...

I Think I Got the Blues___Sonny Terry.wmv

I Think I Got The Blues___Sonny Terry___No Copyright Infringement Intended__Saunders Terrell, better known as Sonny Terry (24 October 1911 - 11 March 1986 was a blind blues musician. He was widely known for his energetic blues harmonica style, which frequently included vocal whoops and hollers, and imitations of trains and fox hunts. Terry was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. His father, a farmer, taught him to play basic blues harp as a youth. He sustained injuries to his eyes and lost his sight by the time he was 16, which prevented him from doing farm work himself. In order to earn a living Terry was forced to play music. He began playing in Shelby, North Carolina. After his father died he began playing in the trio of Piedmont blues-style guitarist Blind Boy Fuller. When Fuller died in 1941, he established a long-standing musical relationship with Brownie McGhee, and the pair recorded numerous songs together. The duo became well-known among white audiences, as they joined the growing folk movement of the 1950s and 1960s. This included collaborations with Styve Homnick, Woody Guthrie and Moses Asch, producing Folkways Records (now Smithsonian/Folkways) classic recordings. In 1938 Terry was invited to play at Carnegie Hall for the first From Spirituals to Swing concert, and later that year he recorded for the Library of Congress. In 1940 Terry recorded his first commercial sides. Some of his most famous works include "Old Jabo" a song about a man bitten by a snake and ...

Positive Attracts LightArt installation by Edwin Cheong

Positive Attracts LightArt installation for ilightmarinabay festival 2010 at Singapore Marina Bay by Artist Designer Edwin Cheong ( night ) www.edwincheong.com Concept: In almost every culture, the symbol of hope and optimism are represented as the immaterial light. Positive Attracts explores the belief that the optimism of our mental state of mind (4th Dimension) can effect a positive outcome of our physical state (3rd Dimension). The installation consists of the Artist's 9 favorite optimistic visionaries (Heroes) who have used their mental state to effect positive outcomes in their physical world. Inspired by "hope-filled" songs such as "Rainbow Connection" and "Somewhere over the Rainbow", these Heroes incubate dreams and will "deposit positivism" to the public as they draw near to the Heroes. So start dreaming with any of the Heroes today by walking near to them! As they flickers and deposit positivism onto you, begin to close your eyes and mentally visualize all the positive things, dreams and hope you would like to see come to realization. Once your mental picture becomes clear, walk away believing you are one step closer to your dreams! 1 - George Lucas - in high school, George was considered a loser who was headed nowhere. He never applied himself in school and dreamed only about racing cars. But his dreams all ended when he met with an accident that prevented him from racing ever again. Staying positive, George began filming racing cars instead. The rest is ...

I converted "The Imperial March" midi file to a WAV file with the "default" simulated instruments at this site: www.hamienet.com It sounds far better, however MidiJam wont be able to play the WAV file because it's no longer a midi file. For this video I recorded MidiJam with the original Imperial March midi sound and then using a video editor, I replaced the original sound with the converted sound WAV file. _______________________________________________ If you're wondering specifically how I captured this: Watch this video especially for the DivX information and settings: www.youtube.com then: CamStudio settings: Region: Fixed Region, check Fixed Top-Left Corner, Left 5, Top 40, Width 640, Height 480 Options ...
