
Saint Bhikhan Ji, a medieval Indian Sufi saint lived a very simple life guided by pious and high thinking. Bidauni, a historian contemporary of emperor Akbar, writes of Baba Bhikhan that he was the greatest among scholars, but inspite of this he used to call himself Kari,meaning a student or a learner. On the whole, the life of Bhikhan was the life of an ideal house holder. Being a great scholar and intellectual, Sheikh Bhikhan's fame spread far and wide. Soon he came under the influence of Bhakti movement and thus became a bitter critic of futile superstitions and formalism. Religious label was no more important to him. He devoted himself completely to the One Universal Lord personifing truth and uprighteousness. Kabir ji was born in India six hundred years ago in 1398 AD. He lived for 120 years and is said to have relinquished his body in 1518. This period is the beginning of Bhakti Movement in India and Satguru Kabir Ji is the unparalleled pioneer contributor to this movement. Baba Kabir Ji ranks amongst the world's greatest poets and philosopher mystics. He is one of the most quoted authors of the world. Shri Guru Granth Sahib contains over 500 verses composed by Baba Kabir Ji. Kabir Ji openly criticized all sects and was against organised religion, believing in non ritualistic and straight forward approach toward both the self and divine.
