Now in the business world we think we have to keep working hard. For what? for the shareholders? to achieve the business goal if you are employed. This is the logial world where if you ask, you find the answer for that soon. However, the plan built by the best and the brightest guys would not work sometimes due to the natural disaster like the earthquake or typhoon. No one could plan them. Planning by the brain would surrender. So, the balance is needed. The logically thinking helps you to have the future dream. The respect for the "Nature" power would ease you, when you fail. The effort at the goal is necessary in this money world. The success never comes itself. What if you fail? That is because of the nature. Dragon has shaped good from the three thousand years ago. It represent the river or cloud shape. It never the same. Keep changing. The flower dragon now finds her world of scroll, or Kakejiku, Japanese style of tapestery. Tried to show ink stone process this time Nishiki-goi, colourful carp, are one of items which reminds us of Japanese cerebrity life, was creative breeding work in sixteenth century in Niigata pref., the nothern area in Japan. Nishiki-goi swims gourgeous like kimono girls. very fun to see. Some might hear about Chinese old saying, carp turns out dragon climbing the waterfall. We say To-ryu-mon, literery climb, dragon, gate, for the new comer contest. American Idle is kinds of to-ryu-mon of artists. I draw this inpired by the old sixteenth carp painting which I bought in London. The wild carp shapes not like glamorous body of nishiki-goi but dull bullet streamline. So does this carp. Tips: 1. Two barbels 2. Eyes are small but there are circles around eyes. 3. Pectoral must be depicted precisely, because this is the key point of carp. Imagine the wing of birds. 4. Scales.... your choice. precise or smoothing. I say, just line it. then drip sumi-ink over.

"Plum blossom, recall me, When it blows in the spring ---" 9th century politician and poet, Michizane Sugawara recites the famous poem, tanka, when he relegated. Some might think it is still cold yet, but that's because we are on the solar calendar now. Only Chinese and Japanese eat plum fruit; pikles, liquerur, candy. Plum pikles on rice is the most known fast food in Japan. The sour taste of plum pikles, ume-boshi, makes our mouths watered. Plum tree has rugged branches and small pretty flower on those. Cherry blossom move in wind graceful, while plum flower never sway. It doesn't decrease the beauty of plum, but the attractiveness of plum is the umbalaneced, pretty flower on strong branch, like small bird on muscle arm.

We call the strong wind in February "Haru Ichi-ban",(litterally the First Spring, meaning the wind which blows very early in the spring) and know the winter has almost gone. Then, the cherry blossom season will come in April. Schools starts new year, the fiscal year of most companies in Japan starts. April is the special month for us to recall the nervous feeling in the new class start. Cherry blossom is the symbol of these. Tips: Cherry blossom could be tough motif for some of you, especially the shape of each flower. Too round looks like the plum and too much oval looks something diffrent. ONe of important technique of sumi-E is "omitting", "cut middle" or whatever you're saying (sorry, I have merely funny words).
