- September 12, 2009 - It was a car lover's dream last weekend down at the Plaza of Nations as local party promoter Craig Stowe, in conjunction with the owners and managers of the Edgewater Casino put on one of Vancouver's first every Luxury Supercar VIP weekends. Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, Mercedes supercars (McLaren), Rolls Royce, Lotus, Jaguar and more were brought in from all over Canada and the United States for a ultra chic weekend show that included an exclusive roped-off VIP area full of pretty girls, food, wine and live DJ music. "We're hoping to make it like the car shows in Palm Beach and include all of the upper market luxury brands that Vancouverites love," said Craig Stowe, organizer. Stunning rare models, like the Dutch hand-made Spyker and Spyker convertible, sat gleaming in the afternoon sun but, like most of their $250000+ counterparts, they were cordoned off from the crowd by elegant velvet ropes. The star of the show however was undoubtedly the $2.2 million Bugatti Veyron. Owned by the likes of Sheik Mohammad Bin Rashid, the car is striking almost to the point of being ugly. And like any good celebrity, she commanded the attention of all who glanced her way as she took over centre stage in the VIP section. - Catherine Barr.com
