The Supremes: You Keep Me Hangin On w/ Lyrics

The Supremes sing " You Keep Me Hangin On" Lead-Diana Ross & Florence Ballard is Featured Prominently Background-Florence Ballard & Mary Wilson Lyrics Set me free, why dont cha babe Get out my life, why dont cha babe cause you dont really love me You just keep me hangin on You dont really need me But you keep me hangin on Why do you keep a coming around Playing with my heart? Why dont you get out of my life And let me make a new start? Let me get over you The way youve gotten over me Set me free, why dont cha babe Let me be, why dont cha babe cause you dont really love me You just keep me hangin on Now you dont really want me You just keep me hangin on You say although we broke up You still wanna be just friends But how can we still be friends When seeing you only breaks my heart again And there aint nothing I can do about it Woo, set me free, why dont cha babe Woo, get out my life, why dont cha babe Set me free, why dont cha babe Get out my life, why dont cha babe You claim you still care for me But your heart and soul needs to be free Now that youve got your freedom You wanna still hold on to me You dont want me for yourself So let me find somebody else hey! Why dont you be a man about it And set me free Now you dont care a thing about me Youre just using me Go on, get out, get out of my life And let me sleep at night cause you dont really love me You just keep me hangin on...

The Supremes: Live @ The Hollywood Palace (1966) - "You Keep Me Hangin' On" & "Somewhere"

The Supremes perform their 8th #1 hit "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "Somewhere" from West Side Story at The Hollywood Palace on October the 22nd, 1966. This performance features the original (and most popular) lineup of The Supremes: From left to right: - Florence Ballard - Mary Wilson - Diana Ross "You Keep Me Hangin' On" was first released 10 days before this performance on October 12th 1966 with "Remove This Doubt" as its b-side. The song rose to #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 (called the US Pop Singles Chart at the time) and also managed top spot on the US R&B Singles Chart. The song was written and produced by Holland-Dozier-Holland who had written and produced all the group's hits up to then also the song was put on the group's 1967 album entitled "The Supremes Sing Holland-Dozier-Holland". Here is a studio mix of the song that is different to the released version as it features much more prominent and louder backing: uk.youtube.com "Somewhere" is a song from the musical West Side Story. Written by Leonard Bernstein the song has been covered by many. The Supremes not only sing it here but recorded it for their "Theres A Place For Us" album (which is named after the first line in the song) and also had it as part of their live set performing it on their 1965 live album "The Supremes At The Copa" and also sang the song live in Paris in 1965 as part of the Motortown Revue. I hope you enjoy this wondrous performance from the REAL Dreamgirls, Diana / Flo / Mary | The Supremes

Ooh, don't you want me Don't you want me no more Ooh, baby Baby, baby Where did our love go And all your promisses Of a love forever more I've got this yearning, burning Yearning feelin' inside me Ooh, deep inside me And it hurts so bad Before you won my heart You were a perfect guy But now that you got me You wanna leave me behind Baby, baby, ooh baby Baby, baby don't leave me Ooh, please don't leave me All by myself Ooh, baby, baby Where did our love go?

The Supremes - Stop! In The Name Of Love | Acapella

The acapella of the 4th #1 hit in a row for Motown group The Supremes. "Stop! In The Name of Love" was first released as a single in 1965 becoming a smash hit; one of The Supremes' most notable recordings and one of the most well known songs of the 20th century. The Supremes' choreography for this song - with one hand on the hip and the other outstretched in a "stop" gesture - is equally legendary. Paul Williams and Melvin Franklin of The Temptations taught the girls the routine backstage in London, before the Supremes' performance on the BBC television special The Sound of Motown, hosted by Dusty Springfield. The song was featured on their "More Hits by The Supremes" album released in 1965 that was actually a regular studio album although its title implies it is a hits compilation. Stop! Wasnt the only #1 on More Hits as their 5th #1 in a row "Back In My Arms Again" is also featured on that album as well as the top 20 hit "Nothing But Heartaches" that is notorious for breaking the string of #1s The Supremes had created along with song writing/producing team Holland-Dozier Holland (or HDH). Vocals: The Supremes - Lead: Diana Ross - Backing: Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson & The Andantes Producer(s): Brian Holland & Lamont Dozier (of Holland-Dozier-Holland) Writer(s): Holland-Dozier-Holland Musician(s): The Funk Brothers Released: February 8, 1965 (US) Recorded: Hitsville USA (Studio A); January 5, January 7, and January 11, 1965 Here is the chart information for the "More ...

Hello Stranger - The Supremes & The Four Tops

Here is another outstanding cover from the third duet album from The Supremes & The Four Tops entitled "Dynamite" from 1971. Aside from Barbara Lewis' 1963 original, I think this version is the best of all the covers ever done of the song. It is musical perfection. Written by: Barbara Lewis Produced by: Bobby Taylor and Frank Wilson Track recorded: May 3, 1971 Additional overdubs, strings and horn sessions recorded in Los Angeles: Dates unknown Levi Stubbs lead vocal recorded: June 5, 1971 & August 17, 1971 Four Tops background vocals recorded: June 9, 1971 Jean Terrell lead vocal recorded: June 10, 1971 Supremes background vocals recorded: June 24, 1971 This version is the best song on the entire LP and one of the best duets the groups did together over the three albums. Motown was foolish not to release this as a single. It screams hit and would have been one had Motown promoted it, but at the time The Supremes and The Four Tops were no longer Motown's top priority. Nonetheless, it still remains an incredible cover. ****No copyright infringement intended****

The Supremes - Stoned Love (Original Version) 1970

The Supremes in Afro Vogue singing about peace, understanding and love, a higher love....Stoned Love! Woo! It doesn't get any better than this. "Stoned Love", written by Kenny Thomas of Detroit and produced by the incomparable Frank Wilson, the record became a World-wide smash hit for the Supremes ( it sounded terrific on the radio as I remember!) It was number one on the R&B Charts during Christmas Week 1970 and remained on the Pop Charts for 12 consecutive weeks! In this clip from November 13, 1970, Mary Wilson,Jean Terrell and Cindy Birdsong show why they were one of the top groups in the World. Enjoy.
