Grocery Shopping in Switzerland

I got asked to stop filming!!! Hahahah....must be more stealthy next time although that's kind of hard with the big open spaces and staff members everywhere. Just a note, this is a really big store - most grocery stores here are not quite as big as this but many metropolitan areas have one or two of these megastores where you can also find a restaurant, a phone store, electronics, home hardware and a drugstore beside the grocery. Something I didn't address: the prices. Food prices in Switzerland are among the highest in all of Europe, for example much higher than in neighbouring countries like Germany or France. However, the quality of the food is in some ways also higher. Much of the meat comes from Swiss farms, and although the cost of having livestock in an expensive country like Switzerland is exorbitant, the quality of the meat is also really amazing. Organic food is very popular in Switzerland with usually a very large assortment available at all the big chain grocers. All organic food must be officially certified by an independent commission, and the criteria for becoming an organic farmer are very stringent. Swiss people in general care a lot about their food, where it comes from, the quality of the meat and produce, and the conditions the animals live in. However, all this comes at a pretty hefty price. Sometimes I wish food was cheaper and that Switzerland allowed more foreign imports to bring down prices, but on the other hand I think it is great that ...

!!Title and artist of this song are written in the beginning of the video!! I'm not so sure about this song...but it was the only one I was able to get in Swiss-German which is also about Switzerland (Obviously the song is a parody about the cliches of Switzerland ;]) Well, I think it sounds cool...even I didn't get one word when I was first listening to it. D; He actually is singing in German...but in Swiss-German! I speak German fluently, but as I heard this song for the first time I was like "...what is this guy singing? x_x" After a while I figured it out, haha. I guess even for a native German speaker this is difficult to understand and they won't get the entire song...I think... And yes...the song really ends that abrupt...totally messed the end up...whatever XD Art taken from Phtobucket and deviantART; Artists: Spazzly, ryouka86, 7point7, Monyaa, EnzanEXE, acidCakes, (where's the rest of the list? Switzerland - Landscapes

Switzerland is a federal republic consisting of 26 cantons, with Bern as the seat of the federal authorities. The country is situated in Western Europe, where it is bordered by Germany to the north, France to the west, Italy to the south, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east. Switzerland is a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the Central Plateau and the Jura, spanning an area of 41285 km2 (15940 sq mi). While the Alps occupy the greater part of the territory, the Swiss population of approximately 7.9 million people concentrates mostly on the Plateau, where the largest cities are to be found. Among them are the two global cities and economic centres of Zurich and Geneva. The Swiss Confederation has a long history of neutrality—it has not been in a state of war internationally since 1815—and did not join the United Nations until 2002. It pursues, however, an active foreign policy and is frequently involved in peace-building processes around the world. Switzerland is also the birthplace of the Red Cross and home to a large number of international organizations, including the second largest UN office. On the European level, it is a founding member of the European Free Trade Association and is part of the Schengen Area -- although it is notably not a member of the European Union, nor the European Economic Area. In nominal terms, Switzerland is one of the richest countries in the world by per capita gross domestic product, with a nominal per capita ...

Lugano, Switzerland AT04

We are now in the best of all possible worlds, in this Italian section of Switzerland where we have the efficiency of the Swiss while enjoying the romance of Italy. The Italian essence brings us the worlds most popular cuisine, pastel, stucco buildings, musical language, relaxed attitudes, couture fashion, old-world charms...while we get the modern efficiency and courtesy of the clean Swiss. One cannot hope for much more than this rich mixture, and it is set in one of the most beautiful spots of Europe. There are plenty of attractions to keep you busy right in the heart of Lugano, and our hotel is conveniently situated in the center, so everything here is easy walking distance. The heart of the small town of Lugano is devoted to the pedestrian, with shops and cafes, and a waterfront promenade with vistas across the lake. We enjoy a visit to the nearby tiny town of Gandria, which has the attractiveness of an old village, and a pedestrian zone in the center ideal for strolling. It is a picturesque spot with narrow lanes that climb the hill as gentle staircases rather than roadways. Here in Lugano on the shores of scenic Lake Lugano surrounded by mountains the two great cultures of Europe come together: the Latin and Germanic—and what a combination it is! The view from Luganos waterfront is an unforgettable picture of shimmering blue water dotted with white sails, ruffled by the wakes of small craft that ply from shore to shore. Lugano - Switzerland

Lugano is a town (56889 inhabitants, a total of 130000 people in the agglomeration) in the south of Switzerland, in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino, which borders Italy. The city lies on Lake Lugano, and its warm summers and the fact that in recent years it has attracted an ever growing number of celebrities, entertainers and successful athletes have given it the nickname of the "Monte Carlo of Switzerland". It is the 9th largest city of Switzerland by population. The origin of the name is possibly the Latin word Lucus, meaning wood or sacred wood, or Gaulish locovanno "lake dweller".

Sinplus - Unbreakable (Switzerland) 2nd Rehearsal and Backstage

Powered by www.eurovision.tv Impression of second rehearsal of Sinplus from Switzerland. Sinplus consists of the two brothers Ivan and Gabriel Broggini. In December 2011, they were chosen by the Swiss TV public to represent their country in Baku. Ivan and Gabriel Broggini Two brothers, both musicians, both with a natural talent for songwriting. They grew up listening to Queen, Bob Marley and U2 and began playing music at an early age. Ivan's passion was the guitar from the very first. Gabriel played keyboards and drums, but soon picked up the guitar too and discovered his passion for singing. At the age of thirteen, both brothers were already playing in their own bands and were spending hours practicing in their father's practice room. When Gabriel left college, he decided to head to San Diego. He was able to sample the city's underground music scene. When he returned from America, the brothers decided to form a band on their own and to write songs together. Thus they established the inFinity project. Their first single, entitled Without Identity, made it to the charts, and the corresponding video clip was broadcasted by several television stations including VIVA. They also had the chance to perform at major venues throughout Switzerland such as Kofmehl and Dynamo and won various contests. Meanwhile the band was named "Sinplus". The two brothers recorded a new EP entitled Get Control, produced in Zurich featuring a single entitled "1984", which is included in a ...

Lucerne Switzerland "Human Racing"

We combined our visit to Interlaken and the Jungfrau with a night at the beautiful city of Luzern (or Lucerne depending on who you're talking to). The train station, or "Rail City" as they called it was right in the city centre centre next to the Scwetzerhofquai Bridge and luckily for us just across the road from our excellent hotel the Walstatterhof. This video was made as we were walking around the city with our excellent guide, Gabriele Weiherich. The others were paying a lot more attention than me mainly because I spent the whole time photographing this beautiful place is such lovely winter light. I actually managed to get a few early-morning shots as well, which is where the opening shot came from. I really couldn't deceide on what music to use for this video, but it needed to be something relaxing, so I just chose a song I picked out some months ago. It's called "Human Racing" and its composed by Richard Lacy, sung by Sarah Elizabeth Lacy. Please see more photos at my flickr page: www.flickr.com

A Short Stay in Switzerland PT 1

Julie Walters has become a kind of brand - the best kind. Give her a role with any substance and you know she'll deliver a Bafta-worthy performance and leave the audience damp-eyed. And so it proves here, in the moving true story of Bath doctor Anne Turner. Having watched her husband suffer a slow, undignified death, she was diagnosed with a similar neurological condition. "Rotten bad luck," her character muses. Walters plays Turner as the best kind of frank, feisty, upper-middle-class mum. "Let battle commence," she cries as she sets about taking on the illness she knows is incurable, but she soon decides she should be allowed to take her own life with dignity, even if UK law doesn't allow "assisted dying". It's a decision her three grown-up children struggle to cope with. Sadly, their characters are short-changed by Frank McGuinness's script; far better is Harriet Walter as a Christian friend with whom Turner has a searing confrontation over a last game of chess. It's one of several shattering scenes in a drama that forces us to think hard about some big questions. ''Universal Music Group All Rights Reserved''

Glacier Express - Switzerland

HD version: youtu.be The Glacier Express is a train which connects the two major mountain resorts of St. Moritz and Zermatt in the Swiss Alps. It is not an "express" in the sense of being a high-speed train but rather in the sense that it provides a one-seat ride for a long duration travel. In fact it has the reputation of being the slowest express train in the world. It takes 7,5 hours to journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass on the highest point at 2033 m (6670 ft) in altitude. The entire line is metre gauge (narrow gauge railway). The Glacier Express is run jointly by two private Swiss railways, the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) and the Rhätische Bahn (RhB), who also operate the regular local trains and freight trains over the same route. The panorama cars were introduced in 2006. I decided to take this trip after I have seen a scene of the Glacier Express in the IMAX documentary film "The Alps". September 6, 2009

A rather surprising Italian-style culture awaits you in the southern part of Switzerland at Locarno, located on a beautiful lake with deep valleys nearby that we visit by bus and on foot, including Vallemaggia with its quaint village of Binasco. Locarno has a historic Old Town atmosphere with arcaded sidewalks, cobbled lanes and a sizeable pedestrian zone containing many shops and decent restaurants. We take a boat ride across Lake Maggiore to the little village of Magadino, then a short bus ride to Ascona, a picture-perfect village on the lake.
