Human rights defenders Bety Cariño Trujillo from Oaxaca, Mexico was killed in a paramilitary attack on 27th April 2010, as she took part in non-violent action in defense of the human rights of others. She was part of a campaign caravan that sought to break a blockade imposed on a vulnerable community by pro-government paramilitaries, in Oaxaca. Al igual que su amigo (y durante algún tiempo cuñado), Porfirio Rubirosa, fue considerado por casi todo el mundo como un seductor irresponsable y malcriado, aunque también es recordado por su brutalidad y crueldad. Asumió el control de la República Dominicana el 30 de mayo de 1961, después del asesinato de su padre. Aunque Ramfis fue reconocido por Rafael Leónidas Trujillo como su hijo legítimo, existen rumores según los cuales su madre (María Martínez, cariñosamente conocida en su juventud como 'La Españolita') lo concibió junto al cubano Rafael Dominici, quien desapareció posteriormente en circunstancias misteriosas. Jesús Galíndez, en su libro 'La Era de Trujillo' afirma lo siguiente: "Ramfis", Rafael L. Trujillo Molina, Jr., hijo mayor de Trujillo, nació en 1929, cuando su madre estaba casada con un cubano, que no lo reconoció como suyo. Posteriormente, Trujillo lo reconoció como su hijo legítimo.
