In this video Alan Watts contrasts the Abrahamic concept of God with the Ancient Chinese concept of Tao; while also paralleling Tao with Einstein's General Relativity theory. Most of us know Albert Einstein was a great theoretical physicist, nevertheless not many of us know what he actually achieved. In short Einstein debunked Newton's Mechanical Universe, instead finding our Universe to have an organic nature. I personally believe sustainable world peace will not be possible until this knowledge is commonplace; for it is no coincidence Einstein had great empathy for all life and was a great humanitarian. Isaac Newton's equations are extraordinary and extremely useful for describing our everyday world. Yet these equations proved useless for any phenomena outside normal perceptions, such as the extremely fast or the extremely small. This is simply because Newtonian physics is a product of sensory awareness and therefore incapable of describing any other reality beyond our five senses. If Newton's laws conclusively accounted for Nature, the mathematics would work at all levels and speeds, yet it doesn't. In this clip from the pilot episode, young Kwai Chang Caine (Grasshopper) and Shaolin Master Po meet for the first time. Master Po is quick to demonstrate to Grasshopper that great virtue is often hidden behind assumed misfortune. This video was taken from the 1970's TV series 'Kung Fu' (Created by Ed Spielman, Herman Miller and Jerry Thorpe). It is essentially an American Western set in the latter half of the 1800's, with an Eastern hero who has neither a gun or a horse. The story follows the adventures of Kwai Chang Caine (David Carradine); a nature loving Shaolin priest, who recently fled China. He speaks softly but is no pushover. He lives humbly yet knows great contentment. Each episode also takes the viewer back to Caine's childhood in the Shaolin temple. It is here under the instruction of the wonderfully charismatic Master Po (Keye Luke) and the stern yet loving Master Kan (Philip Ahn), young Caine (Radames Pera) learns the harmoniously balanced ways of Tao. The teachings of the Shaolin was meticulously researched for the Kung Fu series. This makes Kung Fu one of the most authentic interpretations of Philosophical Taoism available in popular culture. The Tao of Jeet Kune Do Film Presented by Alessandro Sorbello www.alessandrosorbello.com The Tao of Jeet Kune Do is a book expressing Bruce Lee's martial arts philosophy and viewpoints. It was published posthumously (after Bruce Lee's death in 1973). The book was not written by him; instead it was assembled by various people based upon a core set of writings and disparate notes that were left behind after Lee's death. The project for this book began in 1970 when Bruce Lee suffered a back injury during one of his practice sessions. During this time he could not practice martial arts. He was ordered by his doctors to lie flat on his back for 6 months in order to recover from his injury. This was a very tiring and dispiriting time for Lee who was always very physically active. It was during his convalescence that he decided to compile a treatise on the system or approach to martial arts that he was developing; which he called Jeet Kune Do. The bulk of these writings would become the "core set of writings". Many of these writings were done during a single session which provided natural continuity. Lee had also kept various notes throughout the development of his combat philosophy and these would become the disparate notes used in the book. Many of these notes were "sudden inspirations" which were incomplete and lacked any kind of a construct. A film that documents the life of an extraordinary building on the Lower East Side of New York City. It was known to some as the Church of All Nations, to others as CUANDO, to still others as the Taoist Temple of the Ancestral Mother. The main character is the buildings last resident, a squatter and Taoist priest who is trying to cope with modern life in his rapidly changing neighborhood. The story begins when Sifu Jai receives word that the old Church of All Nations building is going to be demolished to make way for high-rise condos. Sifu Jais temple and home of fifteen years is a historic building that has fallen in to a state of beautiful abandonment and decay. Though its official address is 9 2nd Avenue, the hulking brick edifice with the distinctive caged roof is a creature of the Bowery, and its story is the story of that street, all turbulence and iconoclasm, in abbreviated form.

In this clip from the episode "Sun & Cloud Shadow", Master Po is using a pond of lotus flowers as a metaphor for enlightenment. All people draw from the same pond of existence, yet each obtains a different level of understanding. Master Po reminds Caine that a tall flower is no more beautiful or superior than a short flower. This is in direct reference to a teaching of the ancient Taoist sage Lao Tzu, the author of Tao Te Ching. From chapter 49 of this Taoist sacred text, 'An enlightened person is not obstinate. She accepts what others have willed for themselves. She accepts those who appear good to be good; and she accepts those who appear bad to be good also.' This video was taken from the 1970's TV series 'Kung Fu' (Created by Ed Spielman, Herman Miller and Jerry Thorpe). It is essentially an American Western set in the latter half of the 1800's, with an Eastern hero who has neither a gun or a horse. The story follows the adventures of Kwai Chang Caine (David Carradine); a nature loving Shaolin priest who had recently fled China. He speaks softly but is no pushover. He lives humbly yet knows great contentment. Each episode also takes the viewer back to Caine's childhood in the Shaolin temple. It is here under the instruction of the wonderfully charismatic Master Po (Keye Luke) and the stern yet loving Master Kan (Philip Ahn), young Caine (Radames Pera) learns the harmoniously balanced ways of Tao.
