Taoist Yoga Closing Body Massage

Master Pan Shaozu (alias Xuantong zi), born 1923, from Gansu Province, China,is deeply versed in Taoist and Buddhist health preserving disciplines, as well as various martial practices. Apparently, at nearly 90 years of age he can still competently swing a heavy broadsword! Even if you do not believe in chi, this is a great way to close any exercise or meditation routine - martial arts, chikung/qigong, yoga, etc. It gets the blood circulating all around the body and gradually brings the various organs to a state whereby they are functioning 'normally' again. Notice he spends a lot of time on the area where the back of the head meets the neck. The acupressure points at this location can be massaged to counter depression. For a more rigourous massage, closed fists can be used while keeping the wrists loose, instead of the open palms. More pressure can be applied as desired, also, but be careful on the areas with fragile or smaller bones.

Taoist Meditation - Lao Tzu vs. Chuang Tzu

Taoist Lineage Holder Bruce Frantzis talks about the two philosophical approaches found within Taoism; the left wing extremely liberal approach epitomized by Chuang Tzu and the more conservative one embodied by Lao Tzu. Bruce explains how many of Chuang Tzu's seemingly eccentric actions directly allowed him to manifest a fundamental doctrine of Taoism-spontaneity and its necessity towards letting go. This footage was taken from Bruce's Discovering Inner Space and Letting go event in Oxford, United Kingdom. Find out more at www.EnergyArts.com

What are the Basic Taoist Beliefs? - Bobba

Transcript, References & Disclaimer below: Transcript: Tao. (Usually pronounced "Dow" as in "Dow Jones".) Tao is often translated into English as "Path" or "Way". Essentially it is the organic pattern of harmony seen throughout Nature. We realise Tao [1] by aligning with our own true nature. Life becomes effortless when we align with Tao. Te. (Usually pronounced "Deh".) Often translated as virtue - as in "The healing virtues of a plant". Te [2] is the gentle unassuming intelligence of Nature. It is also the virtue obtained by living in harmony with Nature. The Three Jewels. The first jewel is Compassion [3]. This is the ability to see things from the perspective of all other life forms, both human and non-human. The second is Moderation [4]. This jewel is the avoidance of any form of extremism, whether it be views or actions. An approach somewhere between all opposing extremes should always be favoured. The final jewel is Humility [5]. This is the understanding that self-importance is not the way of Tao. This quality is fostered by allowing oneself to be open to all views and possibilities. Wu Wei. Often misinterpreted as laziness, Wu Wei [6] is the understanding that flexibility and suppleness are more effective than strength and rigidity. It should seem obvious that the more one acts in harmony with Nature, the more one achieves and with less effort. An example of Wu Wei is rowing in the direction of the current; or more skillfully still, putting up a sail and tacking ...

Is Taoism a Religion? - Bobba

Transcript, References & Disclaimer below: Transcript: Taoism is not a religion and it is often said that Taoism is barely a philosophy. Taoism is the principle that all things take care of themselves and form an interlocking unity. It gives us a new understanding of reality and provides us with the knowledge to live a life in harmony with Nature. The ancient Chinese never developed a concept of God. They never saw Nature as something that was responding to a cosmic boss. The Chinese word for Nature is 'Tzu Jan' (1) and is translated into English as 'of itself so'. The Taoists saw Nature as something that was self perpetuating, following a pattern of intelligence. The ancient Taoists also never indulged in mythology to explain the phenomena they observed around them. To find the answers to the mysteries of life, they simply looked to the most reliable thing they knew, Nature. They saw how Nature gave everything an opportunity to succeed. From this the Taoists understood that if they also followed the course of Nature, the same realities would be experienced. We can also say Taoism isn't a religion because there isn't anything a Taoist must believe. Taoism doesn't require a Taoist to take a leap of faith and blindly trust anything they are told. It is up to the individual to follow the course of life which is best suited for them. Not forcing the Taoist philosophy onto anyone is a fundamental Taoist belief. One thing a Taoist should never do is use force for any reason ...

Do Taoists Believe in God? - Bobba

Transcript, References & Disclaimer below: Transcript: Philosophical Taoists do not believe in a personal God as it is advocated by the mainstream Abrahamic religions [1]. Whereas the Abrahamic God is based on the political model of the ancient near Middle East, the Ancient Chinese did not see Nature or the Universe as something that was responding to a cosmic king or boss. The Taoists saw Nature as something that functioned automatically, following a highly intelligent pattern often portrayed as the Yin-Yang. They named this indefinable mystery Tao and saw it as the fundamental reality beyond all concepts. Rather than a God, Tao is more similar to a force such as gravity or electromagnetic radiation. Therefore it doesn't make sense to personify Tao, as this only further perpetuates the illusion of separateness. The best way we can benefit from Tao is by observing Nature and applying the experience to our own life. Those on 'The Path' show their respect for Tao by the appreciation of all life. This is a commitment to share this planet with all other life forms and respecting the natural environment. Although there are great advantages for us to follow 'The Way', we are not compelled to do so. In the [paraphrased] words of Lao Tzu [2], "Tao provides a pattern for everything to follow, without requiring anything to follow it." [3] Tao is best experienced through the adoption of 'Wu Wei' [4]. This is a condition where the use of force and control are avoided. Wu Wei is the ...

What is Tao? - Bobba

Transcript, References & Disclaimer below: Transcript: The ancient Taoists always warned us that the Tao could never be fully described. In the words of Lao Tzu "The Tao that can be described is not the real Tao." From this it seems it may be impossible to describe Tao. It is said that someone attempting to describe Tao, is similar to a fish trying to describe the water in which it swims. Since a fish never leaves the water, it is most likely it doesn't know it is swimming in water. In the same way the Tao is always present, nevertheless we find it difficult to conceive or describe Tao. This also introduces another important concept of the Taoist philosophy. We can only describe something in comparison to its opposite. Lao Tzu explained that we only recognise good because there is evil. We only know beauty because there is ugliness. We wouldn't recognize something as it is unless there was something opposite to serve as a contrast. This also explains why Tao cannot be known. Since Tao contains all things, there is nothing to serve as a suitable contrast. We have a similar problem when trying to describe a Universe that is beyond all conceptions. Although we are unable to fully describe Tao, we are able to know of its manifestations. We see the manifestations of Tao in Nature and the Universe. Yet Tao is not an entity or an object. Tao is more similar to a force along the same lines as gravity or electromagnetic radiation. Tao is the organic pattern that enables things to ...

Wudang Mountains - Cradle of Taoism E01 Part 1/2

Quite a number of religions are practiced in China. Taoism is one of the major ones. In fact, it is native to China, where it has been around, first as a philosophy, then as a religion, for well over 2000 years. A key element in the Taoist belief system is the worship of mountains. So, not surprisingly, Taoist masters often spend long periods of their lives living on mountains, where they cultivate themselves with the aim of achieving immortality. China has more than a hundred mountains that are well-known for their associations with Taoism. The holiest is the Wudang Mountains in the northwestern part of Hubei Province.

Mantak Chia Awaken Healing Light Part 1 - Taoism Meditation Spirituality Qigong

Visit us at herbanman.com Grand Master Mantak Chia was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1944 Recognized very early as having great potential for spiritual development, he was initiated into meditation practices by Buddhist monks at the age of 6. While studying in Hong Kong, he learned Tai Chi Chuan, Aikido and Kundalini Yoga from a variety of teachers. His pursuit of Taoist teachings lead him to meet the White Cloud Hermit, a Taoist Master originally from Central China, living at that time in the mountains not far from Hong Kong. Master Yi Eng was to become Master Mantak Chia's principle teacher. Over a period of five years, Master Yi transmitted to Grand Master Mantak Chia the most sacred and closely held Taoist practices, formulas and methods of internal alchemy, culminating in the Reunion of Heaven and Man. Realizing that as transmitted to him, these Immortal practices could not easily be absorbed by western students, Grand Master Mantak Chia undertook to integrate them with his studies in western physical anatomy. Through this process he created a unique view of the internal aspects of these practices.
